Man from a West Coast perspective they REALLY should have gone harder for Jordan Clark in hindsight
It would make sense, but they had targeted Chesser a while before the draft and obviously decided he would be a better fit than Clark. Time will tell on that one.
Or they were just too depressed to ever trade with Geelong again...

He won't pass Mundy's 376 games at least.

Selwood finished 21 short of Dave.

Pendlebury though is just 18 away i suspect he will go past Dave unless a bad injury strikes.
Selwood played nearly 2 seasons worth of finals. 21 wins 19 losses. Insane.
Mundy played 15.
Crazy how a player being drafted by a dynasty gets all the luck. Geelong won nearly 40% of their flags since Selwood debuted

Thanks mate, I don't think I would have made it through the day without knowing this information.

Am I the only one who finds it unnerving how these high ranking officials just seemingly hop around from club to AFL positions?

I'm amazed how quickly the dirt washes off these coaches when they are out of the game for a hot minute.

Brad Scott at North finished with a 21 win, 33 loss run in those last three seasons for a career win rate of 102 from 203 games.

Justin Longmuir has a career win percentage higher than Brad Scott with one season competitive.

Alistair Clarkson bombed out of finals from 2016 onwards.

TBF to Scott...

From what I remember, he saw the writing on the wall a few seasons prior and wanted to rebuild through the draft, was overruled by the club who thought the list was in an ok spot, and then topped up.

Long may Essendon continue to make ridiculous decisions. The days since last won final counter is getting a workout!

The interesting thing about the approach taken when Brad was at Norths was that it was driven by a belief that they could not afford to bottom out. They kept themselves out of the top reaches of the draft for an extended period of time, making up numbers in the 8 because they felt they had to appear competitive to survive - thereby effectively ensuring they could never really be competitive.

They have finished stone motherless last twice in a row now and I reckon they have near-record membership numbers and have been in the black, against all odds.

Of course, the belief that they could not afford to bottom out was a belief most sensible people would have shared.

Lol they've got long memories at Essendon, amongst the first posts since the announcement is one about how Scott needs to explain to the members why he was trying to maim Hird in the 2001 grand final

Good process. I'm sure Adam Yze, etc are impressed

What a bizarre outcome. Rossco doesn’t want to go through the process, duly ignored by the Bombers. But the Lesser Scott bats eyelids at them and the process is sidelined for A Huge Get by the board.

Ross would have been a better choice, process be damned. Yze must have PTSD by now with the number of near misses he has had.

StKilda might have well been a non Victorian team with that record. 3 times at MCG in two seasons.
