I do know the MRNA self destructs, but the instructions must be stored somewhere otherwise
there is no purpose.

I'm not really sure what you mean by this.

mRNA is a transient intermediate messenger between DNA and protein (ie the stuff that actually does stuff). That transientness is dependent on how it is structured but it is transient just the same. The DNA is the ultimate repository of the information.

An mRNA vaccine introduces a transient by nature set of instructions to the cells of the body to produce a viral protein, which is then recognised by the immune system as foreign. 'm'RNA by it's nature is messenger RNA and there is no real recognised mechanism by which it can introduce permanent alterations.

The ultimate effect of any vaccination, whether it be via an mRNA, protein, carrier virus, live or attenuated viral system, is to produce a larger population of immune cells which recognise the components of the real virus. That is how the 'permanent' effect of any vaccination occurs, irrespective of the technology used. That final common pathway bears no relationship to the technology used.

These vaccines are some the most studied vaccines in history. Most stop any studies once they have approval. COVID vaccines are so closely monitored the safety data is exceptional.
All drugs have risks, but compared to COVID they are minimal.

Gold Coast have announced a 5 year contract extension for Touk Miller. Not surprised they’ve put it up today after the bin fire that was Hugh Greenwood heading to North Melbourne yesterday.

Fyfe and Ellyse’s son, Nat Jr., strips the ball from Jack Darling’s son, Max, and kicks a goal to win the GF in the 2045.

Please bet responsibly.

I’ve had 3 pfizer shots myself. Second knocked me around a bit, but not worse than a flu jab.

I don't agree. I like the rule, it looks a bit clunky at times especially for set shots on goal but overall I think it has improved the look of the game.

Click bait. It’s not going anywhere.

Guy#1: Rule XX is crap. It’s not helping the game improve.

Guy#2: totally agree.

Journo#1: Oh yeah. Some ex footy guys said something and my column is due at noon. I’ll report that as “news”.

All Fans: *Yawn* can’t wait till the draft!

This is what the Dogs have to give up to get a father/son player.
— To match the bid, the Dogs use Pick 23 (815 points), Pick 43 (378), Pick 44 (362), Pick 45 (347) and Pick 52 (246), equating to 2148 points that is enough to cover the Giants’ bid.

— As the value of those five picks is more than the discounted Pick 2 value, the Dogs have 134 points left over. This means the last selection the Dogs used to match the Darcy bid (Pick 52) would slide back to Pick 62.

The AFL supports a charming but antiquated notion that a son should be able to play for the same team as his father. Recently they have taken steps to ensure that clubs pay a fair price for them but now I think the pendulum has swung too far.
The points system seems reasonable but the Bulldogs have to hand over 5 picks to get one player. That seems unreasonable, I think if a club took pick 23 and 4 picks between 45 and 55 to the draft there is a pretty good chance they would walk away with 2 solid players. There should be a limit on the number of picks you need to hand over for a father/son. Remember, we all like the idea of sons playing for their Dad’s club. Let’s not hold clubs to ransom for a quirky but endearing facet of our game.

Doesnt the AFL only like the sons playing for their fathers club only if they were Victorian clubs?

If the Dogs wee bottom 4? They just played in a GF, so they don’t have the points.
You pay market value now and JUH, Darcy are top shelf.
Cats dominated the competition with their father sons.
Interstate teams are already disadvantaged.

There is no way the Bulldogs are getting held to ransom.

From my perspective the following changes should be made to the bidding system:
1. Scrap the discount altogether.
2. Only allow a club to use three selections to match one selection. Matching a top five pick with one second rounder and a bunch of junk is taking the piss.

There’s no way a club trades pick 2 for pick 23 and four late 2nds / early 3rds. No way in the world.

Because of the AFL not applying the above we’ve lost access to Motlop and Melbourne to Mac Andrew. Both clubs wouldn’t have found it hard to match these selections if all other rules remained in place.

I'd just like the AFL to stick to one system and not need to change it every handful of years with no retrospective costs applied, because all that does is hurt the future and make the benefits clubs already got better.

Too much more complaining and we won't be able to match any bids inside the top ten at all.

I thought the Dogs getting Ugle Hagen had more to do with rule changes for academy picks than anything else?
