Imagine the ''optics'' if Rankine is selected on Grand Final day and leads the Crows to a flag, carrying on like a martyred hero as he collects his medal.
Weak response from the AFL, Rankine should not play again until Rd 2 2026.

I just got home and saw the Rankine sanction.
Wow. No words. For him to have any chance of playing in a grand final this year is a slap in the face to the LGBTQ+ community. Disgraceful.

There it is sorry we can't elaborate.
Makes a massive difference to the supposed cause of eliminating homophobic language from the game.
Upshot is that the penalty for using homophobic language is now no longer even holding steady across the AFL. It's actually decreasing with successive incidents.
'Beyond a joke' doesn't even go close to describing it.

If it was round 12 and he copped 4. Down from 5 it also doesnt make a difference.
