Read in the paper today that Crameri is out for the year - that is a loss for the Bulldogs because he is a class player - played the 1st 2 games and been out since - and now going in for a hip operation

With the Swans now truly out of the race for the Flag, it would require an epic second half of the season and finals series from here for them to do it, having said that, I have a good feeling about the Cats chances for the Flag this year.

Not saying its going to be easy, but I think we have a chance.

We haven't hit top form yet, and barring no key injuries, we stack up pretty well against the top 8 sides.

If we beat the Crows at home this week, its game on... I backed them at 14.5-1 for the flag last week, and I'm happy with those odds. I think CHF is still our weakness this season, but I think Taylor will continue to be the swing-man, mainly filling the hole.

Injuries will impact our chances significantly. Any premiership with this team will be a steal. If Hawk, Selwood, Danger or Taylor go down for a period of time, it feels out of reach. If we can stay on top of injuries, we're a shot. Must beat adelaide this week for the breathing space we'll need over the coming month.

Every time they play each other-same deal-Hawks turn up in a physical, aggressive manner and the swans turn to water and are gone 5 minutes in. Even this year when Hawks are rubbish. How we let this mob embarrass us is a mystery.

Perhaps for that very reason. We don't bring a physical, aggressive approach, and allow the Swans to settle into their game.

Maybe that's the secret to beating them. Just a simple, physical, aggression to throw them off.

Worth a try -they do lose their rhythm. Padley never misses against us! Buddy is the only one who stands up to it. Go bud.

Yep do what the Hawks did play an 8 man defense block up the space for their leading forwards and attack off half back,Clarko's not just an angry f--king Dwarf with a punchable head,he identifies teams strengths and puts in counter measures,He done Horse cold last night.

How was danger on fox last night discussing the swans game. Said people under estimate what effect being two rotations down does to the midfield group. Said it's absolutely critical for the mids.

Maclure then says that wasn't the reason they lost whilst looking at danger.
Then they show the footage where all the swans players had completely stopped. With many hunched over with hands on knees whilst hawthorn walked the ball out.

Back in your box maclure.

Fox Footy is a bunch of men being paid (probably great money) to justify their opinions and deliver it as gospel. Getting sick of commentators trying to predict a play/announce a player to step up to change the game/predict a coaching move, and then getting pats on the back all around if it comes true.

Port + Crows interstate, GWS and Geelong await them in the next six weeks. Could potentially catch us on an off day, but have zero chance of winning the other three. Even with wins against Collingwood and GC (50/50 games in themselves), they'd probably be 7-9 or 6-10 after 17 rounds, making finals extremely improbable.
One can NEVER write off the Hawks, yet.

Of course it's structural, and 2 rotations down, but no doubt the physical intimidation puts the Swans off from the first bounce and they don't settle properly or get their rhythm back.

Yep they were running on fumes late in the game. Their second half was great all things considered but the poor start cost them.

I used to think Maclure could be somewhat insightful when he was restricted to the ABC. He hasn't covered himself in glory under the bright lights of TV, although few have.

This is the sort of season that Swans could still make top 8. Even Hawks now are a real show, yet only 1 game ahead of them.
Realistically, everything would have to go right for them- 3-7 has never been done, I think we have been told, but I can't imagine Horse and his team playing the kids, tanking, saying the season is over.

I'm shocked, shocked I tell you, that Paddy knows more about footy than Maclure.
