If a player signs a contract for more than 5 years, the club should have the right to trade that player without the player's consent.

I reckon if that was brought it you wouldn't see another 5+ year contract.

Probably not a bad thing really. Would save clubs from themselves.

Surely there is no way a a club would pay that price for matching a bid that early in the draft. I can see really early picks not being matched. That is a high price to pay.
Next few drafts will be interesting, with the two most hyped kids for next year being tied to Carlton and Port.

Then in 2027, Port have another two highly rated kids, and the Essendon nuffies are hyping Koby Bewick.

And 2028, the hype has started for the younger Walker already.

Interesting change in the narrative about players "going home" and the "go home factor" for players leaving interstate clubs and returning to Victoria. We now hear more and more about "getting out of the Melbourne bubble" and players moving to Geelong or interstate.

Victorian clubs are about to get a Cost of Bubble Allowance.

It was only a matter of time before Melbourne clubs stated targeting players of other Melbourne clubs after taking players from outside Victoria has dried up. Hawks and Saints are leading the charge. Going to be a full on war moving forward.

It has acutaly never been more affordable to live in Victoria so you would think they would find it easier to recruit.

Shocking deal from the Suns on paper, however they have the academy picks anyway I guess. If you want to cash in on early draft picks then Gold Coast is your best bet. I think they could have got Petracca for less.

You would almost take Flanders over Petracca these days and one cost 3 first rounders.

'The greatest salesman in footy' according to that peanut Jon Ralph had 3 swings and 3 misses this year in the form of Harley Reid, Oscar Allen and Zach Merrett with none of them ending up in the yellow and poo.

Port are in big trouble in the future. Butters will take off back to Vic in the coming years
Port have a top 2 nga kid next year, two highly rated father sons and very highly rated nga kid in 2027.

Their list right now is a bit of a mess, but they have the kids coming through from their premiership team, to get through the Tassie drafts.
