That's why we're thinking of phasing out Rocky, and Noble has said we'll be looking to bring in some midfielders in the 22-25 age bracket over the next few trade periods to redress the imbalance.

It's an admirable goal, but unless they're from qld or are Jarrad Jansen types we'd probably be better off buying lottery tickets.

So Kennett (2005-2011) himself changed the Hawthorn constitution that presidents can only serve 2 x three-year terms and has now returned as president...

So the Guy and yes thats his name who manages Jake Lever and Devon Smith will be the Pies new list manager. Fair to say if either of those players end up Collingwood there will be a massive inquiry.

fair to say the connection will probably be made and then it will be forgotten about and nothing else said.

Surely the AFL need to make sure that he couldn't start at the Pies until the trade and draft periods are over.

He starts after trade period. Also manages Rory Sloane. After the Gubby grubby affair you would think the Pies will not want any more controversial issues.

Technically speaking it's his employer that manages the players. Can't really legislate against individuals leaving employment with an agency to take up a role at a club that might have an interest in one of the agency's players.

Have to laugh at Lever’s managers comment that it is “Melbourne or bust” for Lever.

As I said earlier, Lever is not a free agent, so the AFL should (although they won’t) remind Lever and his manager that Adelaide do not have to deal solely with Melbourne particularly as Lever himself said that he wanted to return to Melbourne to be closer to family and friends, therefore, Adelaide should be able to deal with whichever of the nine Melbourne based clubs want Lever.

Such a joke of a system.

I’d love if Adelaide stood their ground and Lever was left to go back through the draft.

Would make sense considering how highly he seems to be rated. Hopefully he can arrest the sinking and turn them around, they need help.

It really is crap. It is also crap that this is getting media attention, yet happened to us, over and over and no one cared. Perhaps the AFL need a system where by the club of choice needs to be able to match the best offer? If he wants Dees but Pies offer something, then the Dees need to match that. Would be very hard to do though. Too often clubs take advantage of these situations and offer peanuts.

Dew kinda worries me as an opposition coach we'll face twice a year, which is dumb because he's untried but i guess it speaks of his reputation and pedigree

Dew should have held out for a better, less suicidal gig IMO but good luck to him.

If you think about it, Dew was probably the obvious choice.

For all his good work with Port Melbourne, they were never going to go for a guy like Ayres, Too much like Rodney Eade Mark 2.

Ratten would have had some appeal but once again , a discarded coach from yesteryear. Ditto for Knights

So they probably had no choice but to go with the best Assistant on offer.

Dew is a two time Premiership player and with a background as a respected Assistant under Longmire's Swans regime.

Trumps Carecalla and Barker hands down.

    Good appointment.
