Did anybody see how Michael Walters was carrying on out there? One of the most prominent Freo players involved with the niggle and push and shove, yet the first time he touches the footy he absolutely sprays it out on the full. That's why the Hawks do it. Freo are being mentally and physically dominated at the moment.

Was a decent player a few years ago in his 1st year. Pick 7/8, I believe he was. Playing against the Swans today but hasn't played a lot in a crap team over the last few years.

For sure and I think Freo would beat Hawthorn in Freo and would be line ball (favouring Hawks) at the MCG. Hawthorn never looks like losing at Aurora, it's why such a big team is happy to play down there.

You guys are having a nice season. I just didn't understand the mud being slung at the dogs in this thread. Chop the season up however you like, the dogs are having a nice season as well.

Hi there, you are welcome to visit, and you make some valid points. The Dogs will likely be deserving favourites when we play you in a couple of weeks. Etihad is also not a great (recent) venue for us.

But this is the Pies board, and we are inclined to take apart opposition teams in our threads. Rightly or wrongly, mud slinging is part of that, and its what you can expect to read if you drop by.

Hopefully we'll have a banter thread running in the week leading up to our game. If you join in, lots of mud and other stuff will be thrown around, but all in the name of banter of course.

You know what, I might just have to revisit this original assessment! The scoreline isn't such a big deal IMO, but fact they failed to even impact the contest or show any signs of interest in winning will be very concerning for them.

Well I hope that settles the "myth" that Freo are the best side in the comp. And to think the Hawks did it without Roughy as well....there's a fair bit of diistance between them and the rest of us at the minute.

The "unsociable Hawks" set out to dominate the dockers from the word go (Think Hodge on Fyfe, Mitchell on Fyfe, everyone on Fyfe!!) and for mine it just proved that old style intimidation still has a place. Didn't see one Hawk worry about a sling tackle or ducking for frees...they just ran straight and hard.

Just this weeks little point to ponder: In every other game than the Pies/ Power clash the free kick numbers were average (at around 17-24 frees for each team per game. In the game Thursday night there were 15 frees paid for the entire game spread across both teams. No wonder Oxley didn't get a free for a head high tackle in the dying minutes. Watch the free Bruest gets for the Hawks in the last quarter....same thing, different team....different result.

Oh and just to rub salt in again WC got twice the frees Adelaide got....they are simply the umpires darlings this year!
Guess who has to play them next week?

Don't worry, we just need to remind Eddie to stop being so stingy with his money and give some to the umpires this week. He's clearly been spending it on more legitimate things... like ensuring no one actually wins 'Millionnaire'.

Gibbs out for the season with a pectoral injury, along with Judd and DT now. Hard to know if it helps us or hinders us for our next clash on August 8th however, because they're all such useless flogs.
