Every other tosser is throwing up polls so why not me :)

I think if no limitation is brought in that this place can be over run with low posting teams. The new teams that have come in and post like buggery should get the advantage of a broader choice.

I think next season we should limit the number of NP a team can play (defintion can vary but I would think if you dont post once a month - you qualify).

Opposing captains could check and if you play one lose a point.

If we dont have posters what is the point?

Ditto.

Can you imagine the amount of controversy and headaches it will bring for the admin?

And in any case, where do you draw the line for a non-posting player? Once a game? Once a week? Never posted? etc.

Leave it to the captains and their respective teams.

What exactly is a non-posting player? One who doesn't post daily? weekly? monthly? yearly?

It would be way too hard to actually check this, and i'm sure that 90% of people in this comp check in every now and then.

The only one who doesnt post for us is our keeper, goalsneak.

I say make a limit, but it will be a sh*tload of work for the admin.

Not a bad idea but maybe we can change it to 'each team must have atleast 7 posting players in each game thread and for every time they don't, they get a warning so it would be equaly as bad as a late team.'
But the posting isn't the major problem in the league ATM.

Non posting players are no goode but if you ban them all then everyone has to get big squads & you end up with a load of por suckers who hardly ever play.

Personally I try to just have 11 or 12 people who post & try to play them most of the time but occasionally especially for the one dayers you might need to use a non poster but I'd rather that than have a spare player who signed up for us hoping to play & who's left on the outer.

This harps back to the debate before the season started where I suggested that non posters were culled before new teams were introduced. That way existing teams would have topped up with new blood first. But my argument didn't prevail and even non posters I had singled out were signed up again for the season. If that is what people want then there should be no complaints.

But it's the new sides who have nearly all of their players posting.
I don't think it's a huge problem anyway.

Nope, can't punish a whole team based on a minority in their team not posting. More trouble thenn what its worth

Exactly, but some of those players could have replaced non posting players in existing sides, or an existing side may have merged with a new side.
Yes but if a new side merged with an existing side, 99% of the time the existing captain would take over, whereas a new captain is what is needed to promote their team and the league and gain new players.

Absolutely correct.

That is how the WSC arrived with CC as captain.

We recognised we had 7 posting players but no more. 5 players had 80% f the posts. 4 of us merged with CC's team, Stmookeyj deserted. The result was a championship winning side.

The decision was made to NOT proceed with NP players. We could have done, as others have, but we merged in the interests of the competition.

Star1, Star2, Star3, Star4....are potential players that wont post but could be easily signed by any team. But what's the point? This board is about contributors, not imaginary names.

Bingo!

I think we need to do something and it would not be very difficult to police - especially if we tackle it in two ways.

The obvious as Frodo has eluded to -cull them at the start

(1) Each member must at least sign (post) to be included on a list.

and to carry it on

(2) Limit the number of non-posters that can be played. My defintion is if you are not posting every 4 weeks you are not a contributor.

Easy fixed - if you play more than the agreed amount of non-posters (eg no more than 2) then the opposing Captain can point this out and you are docked a point ...do it again and you lose all points for the game ...3rd offence and you are stripped of all points.

You cant field a team ....mid season draft and spread em out.

Seriously - I'd rather play in a league of 5 posting teams than 10 half filled teams.

This way there is no pressure on the Administrator - if you play me though I would check when every player last posted on our board.
