I see your point completely, and disagree. I see this competition as being about all the players. You see the competition as a tactical battle between a dozen captains with everyone else being 'sundries'. I don't mind if every team finishes with 11 wins and 11 losses, it gives averyone something to cheer about and gives a nice close competition.
Your goals can be satisfied with a minimum four bowler rule and slightly raising the allrounder stats. If all rounders are taking wickets and scoring runs they are going to get selected.
I disagree with you on what I see as making the comp good but we're entitled to our different opinions. What I will say is though, I dunno how it works at other clubs but at the Allies it's certainly not just a case of the captains treating everyone else as sundries, we have a mass think in where a lot of people comes up with ideas for tactics & we try to see what works.

ps I never thought you were cheating and never said anything like that.
you're on shaky ground here, remember a few months ago when I said that you'd said something ages ago & you accused me of lying & I found the exact thread?:D

You may not have used the term cheating but what you said was that this was a random game & the fact that the Allies won the first 3 Prems must have meant that we had some extar advantage(I think you thought we had extra stats or something) & at the time I explained to you that this thing was anything but random & responded to a fine tuning of team selection.

I may endevour to find the post, give me some time as I'm sure it will be a pain up the arse but I'll find it.

I'd be happy for np bats to have full batting stats too. Everyone wants a Freddie.
This is an interesting idea, I'd be happy for that as well & go the whole hog & make keepers have the same average as well but I'm not sure that the built in average is everything.

If you notice NP bats & keepers tend to bat a lot slower than pure bats in Tests. They both have the built in average that pure bats used to have (I think) but they don't tend to do as well as pure bats did then.

I think even if you give NP bats the same average as pure bats they still won't do as well, or at least they'll still score at a tediously slow rate.

This whole sim is a mystery, more complicated than anyone can fully sus.

I would wager that if you got one team with ramped up stats & played it against another side with lower stats (obviously not too much lower) who had a superior line up in terms of player types that the 2nd side would win more often.

I want you to show me how many formations you can make having this new 2 non player rule compared to the one we have in place right now.
You can't make any more obviously but you can't play the optimum line ups anymore so everyone will have to work out what goes best with 2 nps & my guess is that there will be constant evolving of tactics like we've had in the past & that it'll be less likely for one formation to conquer all.
