I mean I think 99% of us here would have taken 4-1 at the start of the season but it does feel like the cream is starting to rise to the top... it probably started last week. Might fall back to the pack a bit here. On the other hand, didnt expect the Lions to beat the Dogs but the way they are beating down the Bombers makes me think they are starting to get into a groove.

Yup happens every year yet people go so early, if we played Brisbane next week reckon we repeat the performance?

And yer 4-1 is a terrific start.

I’m not making excuses for yesterday loss I’m just trying to find an answer to why we play a different game style there to most grounds and imo it’s the length but so minimal difference apparently.

I bet I bet we play different and look far more effective on AO , mcg , dome etc etc

We just struggle against GWS when they decide to turn up we have had worse defeats at ANZ, Giants stadium.

Ricciuto
Adelaide hitting the wall?
I don't think you can count enough how much an intra-game injury of a key player affects a team. Tex walker had some injury (?calf) which limited his jump and run. If we didn't lose Hickey (and Reid transiently at the same time), we likely win, and this board doesn't have the weeping and gnashing of teeth that we've seen.
Also, Ricciuto should not commentate on Adelaide games. (His voice, added to Dunstall's, is really irritating.)

The size of the SCG as quoted in the AFL Season Guide is 155m x 136m.

The ground was marginally lengthened during renovations, but the width quoted in that cricket article is not applicable to footy.

It has been 136m for years and given that no stands have been moved it is impossible for the ground to have been modified to extend the width to 154m.
Removal of the benches for example would increase the width.
I'd imagine the cricket measurement is more to do with pumping up the distance sixes travel than anything based in reality.
