Hey Noob .... any Kye Fincher highlights from yesterday's match?
I'm not sure... I'm not fully convinced yet that he's a draftable guy, but if he plays another big game for Metro I'll likely reassess. I expect this week will be a bit of a squeeze. I'm having to wait for the VOD of that game to drop before I can get started which will limit how many performances I can cover.

Any reason why you think he might not be draftable? ... given he just racked up 27 disposals ... 19 kicks
I don't want to be too definitive until I've watched him more closely, but my impression has been that he lacks damage with his possessions, and I'm not sure where he fits at AFL level.

Toby Whan #3
This won't go down as a classic Whan game, but he was a solid contributor in a balanced team effort from WA who just got over the line in a close encounter. Whan was strong over the ball, and got the chance to penetrate with his long left boot on a few occasions. A solid base for Whan to open his Champs campaign, with hopefully more to come over the next three.

Dyson Sharp #11
A huge game from Sharp who led from the front as his croweaters stomped all over the archrival Vic Metro. In many ways we saw more of what we already know about Sharp here, so those that love him will see even more to love, and those that don't will still have their criticisms. It was a wet and wild day, allowing Sharp to showcase his clean hands in tight and his intensity at the contest. We've seen him produce strong overhead marking displays before and we saw some of that again here, and though he played more midfield this week he still pushed forward and kicked a couple of goals. His disposal by foot was as variable as it always tends to be.

Oliver Greeves #8
It was a dirty day in the rain for Vic Metro but Ollie Greeves was one of the few to emerge with his reputation undamaged. Best on ground for Metro, he cracked in hard at the contest and didn't stop running all game. His clean hands at ground level were a feature in the wet conditions, his disposal was decent for the most part, and he even laid a few tackles which is an area he needs to improve.

Cooper Duff-Tytler #7
A game filled with the excellent and the poor from CDT to open his Champs campaign. His ruck battle against Sam Ainsworth was one of the highlights of the match with both emerging with some credit from the contest. For CDT it might have been the best I've seen from him in terms of the two facets of the craft combined, his tapwork and his follow up at ground level. Unfortunately he too often let himself down with his kicking skills, an area where he's typically very strong but in this game he continually missed targets and turned the ball over.

Aidan Schubert #3
Schubert has quickly risen to become the number 1 key forward prospect in the draft pool in the eyes of many. This game provided a showcase of why, with Schubert dominating aerially, taking 6 contested grabs, many of them deep forward, and booting three goals to take his tally for the tournament to 7 through the first two games. His size and strength also allow him to function as a second ruck, adding a valuable string to his bow.

Sam Cumming #6
A strong performance from Cumming who did a lot of the tough contested work around stoppage that helped his team gain the ascendancy through the midfield in this game and contributed significantly to their dominance on the scoreboard. The conditions weren't conducive to his usual outside polish, but he still managed to slot a couple of goals.

Zane Peucker #1
An exciting performance from Zane Peucker who showed a little bit of what SANFL u18s watchers have been seeing this season. He kicked the opening goal, using his strength and low center of gravity to shrug off tacklers before snapping truly under pressure, and then continued to get involved in productive moments for SA throughout the rest of the game, kicking a second himself among his 5 score involvements.

Hudson Walker #1
Hudson was the man of the moment, taking a mark late in the fourth quarter and calmly slotting the winning goal from 40 on a slight angle. Prior to this huge moment he put together a solid game, the highlight being his intense pressure applied through the forward line and midfield. He also directly assisted two more goals for his teammates.

Dyson Sharp #12
A second straight dominant performance at the Champs from Sharp leading to a second straight demolition job of the opposition. It would be a brave person that would bet against Sharp winning the Larke medal from here and SA have all but sewn up the Champs title already only three weeks into the carnival. He was everywhere again here, powerful at stoppage, tireless on the spread, popping up with a couple of goals and again showing his strength overhead.

Cameron Nairn #2
Nairn went big in a dominant Champs performance booting 7 goals for SA against a WA team that simply couldn't handle him on the day. He was powerful and clean in the air and solid at ground level and could easily have had 9 goals if he hadn't been robbed of a couple by dubious umpiring decisions.

Fred Rodriguez #7
It was a tough day for WA but Fred put together a strong performance to be their best on the day. He worked hard all game and found plenty of the footy in space where he was able to damage with his disposal, although his midfield group was soundly beaten by the WA mids overall. His ability to place his kicks to a dangerous spot inside 50 or float them perfectly to the advantage shoulder of his target is elite.

Kalani White #1
A VFL debut to remember for Kalani White who started slowly but grew in confidence over the course of the game and ended up playing his part in a 4th quarter surge by Casey that broke the game open, with Kalai kicking two goals in that term. He's still skinny and raw, but there were plenty of exciting signs here for Demons (and possibly Sun) fans.

Lachy Dovaston #5
Dovaston keeps on building and improving as the season progresses and should be considered firmly in the first round frame at this stage as the premiere small forward in the draft pool. He's lacking almost nothing for that role, capable of kicking all types of goals, willing and able to apply defensive pressure at a high level, brings teammates into the play with creative disposal, electric around the footy with his pace, agility and a touch of magic. It would be nice to see him frank his form with a big performance at the Champs, but the talent level is undeniable.

Sam Cumming #7
Cumming set the tone for this performance by SA at the opening bounce with his attack on the contest and the man. His numbers from this game won't jump out at you, and playing his half forward role with occasional rotations into the midfield he's rarely going to be prolific, but the moments of quality from him keep coming consistently game after game. His athleticism and talent allow him to do some things that most others can't, as demonstrated by a soaring pack mark in the goal square in the third quarter.

Charlie McKinnon #3
Charlie has been kicking goals for fun since returning from an injury delayed start to the season, following up his 8 goals in round 8 with another big bag of 7 on the weekend. He's an unfashionable, throwback type of player, a real stay at home, "undersized" full forward in the mold of a Lockett or Dunstall from a bygone era. He doesn't mind laying a tackle or bump occasionally, but mostly he just wants to kick goals and he's excellent at doing just that. Let's hope his latest heroics will earn him a call up to represent Vic Country in their remaining Champs games.

Willem Duursma #10
An intriguing watch for draft nerds with Willem moved away from the mid/fwd role that he typically plays for Gippsland. He was mostly deployed on a wing in the first half and struggled to impact as much as we've come to expect this year, but that changed dramatically in the second half with a shift into defence which saw him produce one of the best displays of intercept marking that I've seen this junior season. I've wondered at times if Willem's positional versatility is a bit of a curse, and this shift into other roles here may suggest that the clubs themselves aren't fully sure where his future lies and wanted more of a look at him playing other roles.
