Forecast for saturday is 18 with showers, which leads me to the obvious choice, Jimmy "loves the wet" Bartel, currently $8. I reckon get on that quick because if the rain stays in the forecast then he wont stay at $8 for long.

Other value bets im thinking are :

Ottens $21 - I think we have a clear advantage in the big man stakes, Otto is clearly above Cambell and Taylor/Renouf, and if he fires he's a good chance to be best on.

Ling $16 - Is in my opinion in career best form and if he shuts Mitchell out of the game and manages 20 odd touched himself can also win the medal.

Mackie $31 - Play the sweeper role across half back, did it pretty damn well against the dogs although fumbled a bit early with the dew that comes with a night match, if he plays the same way but cuts out the fumbles then he is a good bet at $31

Stevie J $13 - Been down for a few weeks, loves the big stage, always a chance

Ablett $8 - Always a chance, could be his time to shine on the big stage.

Mark Blake $126 - Why not, this is the moment he's been waiting 12 months for, maybe worth a $5 bet

Personally my main bet will be on Jimmy, with a few little bets on Mackie, Otto and Ling

Look for Joel Selwood, Chapman (showed he can play injured or return strongly from injury first game back), Stevie J, Bartel or Ablett.

I'll be looking to go $5 on Selwood, $10 on Bartel and $5 for Stevie and Chappy (if he comes up) for a little play. Not really big on the betting side of things.

I reckon Dog is carrying an injury and wont be as he was last year. If it rains I think Jimmy is a chance but for me the man from our team to watch is one Joel Selwood. The hawks have chances in Mitchell, Buddy, Hodge, Bateman etc

Im tipping Joel Corey his first half fri night was brilliant he just runs himself into the ground. What his odds?

Current TAB Sportsbet odds @ 10.20pm

Gazza $8
Jimmy $8
Chappy $21
Otto $21
SJ $13
Corey $12
Mitchell $9
Buddy $13
Hodge $11 ($1000 after Rooke runs through him in the 1st qtr)

Love the little Master at $8. GO GAZZA!!!!!!!!!!!

I backed selwood last year.

Every time I watch that replay it makes me think he must have been close.
A lot of the early contested possies were his.

Bartel had a good game againsy them in rnd 17.
Add to that, that GAJ comes back in, and Ling does too, then I think he'll get even more freedom.

Bartel from Selwood, and if Hodge gets norm, the hawks win.

I've got a few dollars on Brad Ottens.

$20 on joel corey for brownlow, andrew mackie for norm smith at $403 to $1... bring it on!

How the hell did you get Mackie at $401??

He was our best on Friday, and very good in last year's grand final.

I'm going to put $10 on Otto and $10 on Selwood.

Last year I had a bit of a dab on halfway-outsiders, Mackie and Enright.

Mackie was thereabouts, and Enright had the most possessions for Geelong. I think he'll be getting at least a bit of my money again.

Bartel, Ottens, Enright for me I think.

(On another point, I reckon the Norm Smith betting is a great form guide for the Premiership too. I was a bit nervous going in against Port last year, until I saw the betting, and realised just how many players we had that were more likely to win the Norm Smith (in terms of their odds). This year it's closer, but Geelong still dominate the top half...)

in recent years it has been awarded to the flashy running/goal kicking types i.e. SJ, Embley, Judd, Pickett

Look for SJ again, Mackie, Buddy and Bateman me thinks.

Ah, Hello ...One G. Ablett!!!

I've got a feeling that this is his moment. The final wax stamp to confirm that he is a football God.

They'll be talking about his game for decades.

BTW, I am totally serious!
