I don't think North needs Greenwood though? Feel like there are other clubs in much greater need of his service - Richmond, Essendon especially.

Cunnington is your prime inside ball winner/clearance specialist, you want to give him as much midfield time as possible.

Simpkin is your #2 inside mid with a strong inside/outside mix.

Thomas/LDU are your complementary offensive mids with speed and ability to go forward.

Then you have Anderson as a defensive/tagging mid and Phillips/Powell as that next group to develop.

What's the point of Greenwood?
He may be back up for Cunnington.

Remember he is still recovering/treatment for cancer.

There is no guarantee he will be back for 2022. We do not know what his doctors have said, or his prognosis.

Good bit of risk management by the club imo.

8.6 tackles per game is the most in the AFL - the point of Greenwood is bring the heat!!!

I guess thats the risk you take when you delist someone. Another club might just swoop in and offer then more money.
A taller Jed Anderson with possibly a worse kick (not knocking Jed).
Underrated player. Great get.

That’s selling Greenwood short. Greenwood is a decent distributor by hand and wins plenty of inside ball whereas Anderson is just a battering ram who puts heat on the opposition.

Good get for North especially if Cunnington’s back doesn’t hold up.

edit: Forgot about Cunnington’s cancer diagnosis. Greenwood makes a ton of sense for them to me.

Selling Anderson a tad short there too. Both provide good depth at worst and are both hardened pressure mids.

Anderson has also shown an aptitude to play as a pressure half-forward and rotate into the middle for periods.

Jarryd Lyons is a top 15 mid in the comp, and Greenwood is also a strong B/B+ midfielder.

Both would’ve been Gc’s #1 and #2 midfielder.

Shambles of a club, like I said before the only worse list manager than Collingwood is Gold Coast.
Let alone half a dozen other good players they've lost along the way too.

Tagging and opposition mid nulification.
Power mids like bont run straight through us, Greenwood will help to slow them down.

Not trying to be harsh on Anderson his attack on the ball and the man are valuable. I just don’t see him as someone who can lead an inside midfield the way Greenwood can.

I agree. Both don't get a stack of outside footy, but are great pressure players. Greenwood is more a pure ball winner, midfielder and, arguably, a better distributor. However, he is less versatile than Jed.

Both will be needed next year at various points. I would not have been surprised if your mob looked at Hugh at some point.

I don't even really know what we're talking about any more. I just came here to say that it's a great get and that he and Anderson are similar players. The bolded is factually incorrect btw.

And I disagree. Agree there is no point either of us choosing this hill to die on

Apologies if my stat was incorrect.

It will be interesting to see what the signing of Greenwood will do with out draft hand.

Is it now possible to package 20, 42 & 47 for a pick in the teens in the hope of selecting a Van Rooyen, Draper or Mac Andrew.

I doubt we'd move all three on (I hate to use points but with 20 moving up and 42/47 moving in due to bids the three are worth around pick 6 in combined points). We'd definitely be working feverishly to bring those latter two picks in though.

Maybe we could ask Gold coast for their first pick.... ;):laughv1: :laughv1: :laughv1:

I think you are forgetting Touk Miller, far and away better than Greenwood and would still have him Infront of Lyons.

Not defending this surreal decision making, but Touk has both covered and neither would be our best midfielder IMO, both would still be handy though.

Miller is well infront as the best mid of the three and by extension the suns as a whole
