Exciting rookie draft for us. We'll be picking up Polec and leaving a spot free for Tom Lynch as a SSP so we can pay him to coach outside of the soft cap.

We should be picking a young KPD as a rookie today rather than Tom Lynch. Something dodgy about us having trouble fitting into the soft cap. Especially as the people making these decisions are paid under the same cap. They could just cut their own wages and we would get a proper rookie.

Cut their own wages? Would you sacrifice some of your salary so your company could brng in someone else? Take a reality check mate.

Its not just about soft cap, its about having an experienced player ready in the forward line in case of injury. He's still serviceable as a player, RE last 6 games:

We could try skimping on whatever Paul Roos is getting.
Again you don't know what Roos is on or the benefits he's been giving to the side.
Amafio is a very good businessman, he's not going to be spending money on staff that don't need to be there.

I rate Lynch but we don't need another forward. We need another KPD and Lynch is taking their spot.

I don't know what Roos is on, but he has quite a reputation for making sure he is generously compensated for his time. Other than Roos and Rawlings, the rest of the staff should be on average or lower wages compared to their counterparts at other clubs. Yet we somehow need to pay Lynch outside the cap. It doesn't add up.

As I've said on other threads before, we don't know what the details of the previous SC/Medico contracts were and if any of them received payouts that may be affecting the soft cap structure for 2022 onwards.

If you read the article on the topic, he changed his name recently because he had to wait until he was 18 to do so.

He also changed his name because his brother, sister and mother had all already changed their names a while ago to Horne-Francis.

A very long bow to relate it back to Port.

His pull was so strong for Port Adelaide as a kid that he never supported them and he played for the South Adelaide Panthers....

Jackson saw out his contract and played in a premiership for them but hey, apples and oranges or some fruity metaphor.
I’m sure we could find heaps of dee posts saying how much Jackson loves the dees a swing be going anywhere.

Seeing out his contract hurt the Dees more. We got a better deal that what they did.
