Injury prone? Thanks Johnny Gastev, the only midfielder who you could say that about on our books is probably Wardlaw.

Calling LDU injury prone is akin to calling your flags illegitimate due to it not being a fair playing field. Now, I don't care enough to label you anything, I kinda didn't mind you inflicting some more pain on Neck and his band of brothers (frauds, really).
wtf are you talking about? before last year hes missed games every season with hamstring or foot complaints.

Yet similarly rated to Warner, Butters, Anderson and Serong over the last 2 seasons. Who I imagine you would have a different response in value to.

AA gurneys mean SFA when playing in a bottom side.

Given he's reportedly receiving the largest free agent offers in the history of the game, it's fair to say every other club disagrees with your assessment.

similarly rated by who?

if youre good enough in a bottom side you get aa guernseys. see touk miller. also won the coaches award in a terrible side which ldu has never come anywhere close to achieving.

and the last line about reportedly getting the largest free agent offers in the game is a nice soundbite until you put it into the context of the cap increases where honest B graders like ben mckay and harry perryman are the current record holders. do you want to make the argument that either of those guys were worth 3 first round picks because of the free agency offers they were fielding?

So he played 23 games and received 18 votes? Yep, strikes me as injury prone.

In any case, your 'triumph' had nothing to do with AFL trying to grow the sport in QLD of course. You can't even admit the nonsense that is QLD footy: an outright sham.

Keep telling yourself Touk Miller is fit to carry LDU's bags into the ground, and that your flags were done on hard work and you are in meritocracy. You have not won an untainted flag in the 21st century. More salary cap for the first 3 and what cuck you get for being in QLD for this latest one. At least your F/S won the Norm, that was actually legit. The rest of your flag was purely to grow the game, nothing more. I didn't even watch it, read you played well, though, congrats. I'm sure the people of Brisbane lapped it up.

If we are bad enough that he leaves then it will be a top 3 pick - we won't match as we won't get better than a top 3 pick.

Discussing a trade is a mute exercise.
Wouldn't we better off getting some that could deliver one of the best small forwards and both forward and defensive flankers?

Surely after trading away your first the aim is more than bottom 2? Don't see why you can't be outside the bottom 4 anyway, now is the time for significant improvement althout Wardlaw staying healthy is important who knows there

IMO it was a terrible trade - until we can show that we can win 8 plus games our first should not be traded. It could be Whitlock & 19 (pushed out after academies etc) for pick 1-3. We have only showed a brief patch last year that we looked decent and on the right track.

But yeah - us Roos are very hopefully for significant improvement.

I actually like the trade and it's for one thing you don't have the safety net of a top 1-3 pick. I actually love what you are building, you just need that core to be healthy. Parker will be a fantastic acquisition, he won't cop rubbish from anyone whether it be in a game or at training or in preparation. These are the types that you have needed for years and not the Dylan Stephens of the world (sorry but I'm right there I used to like Dylan but the bloke wasn't the right target)

Love the Parker pick up - will set a standard that will help our young mids for years. Will be an on field coach as well. Agree on Stephens - should only play if we have injuries.

Alot need to take a decent step up for us to improve. 10 wins in 2024 and we would still have been bottom 4. Its a big ask for us not to have a top 4 pick at years end.

I think if you get 8-10 wins that trade will be a win-win, anything less that 8 and it's a poor move but at some point you have to back the development and say enough is enough go out there and win games stop focusing on a pick which may or may not be good. You have so many mids looking briefly the top ones next year are small so can get away with not having an early one.

Yeah you need these on field coaches you have for years, players that won't cop others putting half the effort the coach in the box can't drag every player off the field

FOS reportedly had some lower back/hip issues last season not reported in the media, which are on the way to being resolved.

Would explain some of the labored running last year, despite being almost a sub 6 min 2km runner as a 17 year old.

Certainly wasn't only a finger injury like many suspected.

You (Rich) got 14 back in an equally compromised draft.

Given midfielders tend to go early, I wouldn't budge. Take the many picks and pick the eyes out of positions of need.

I still think you're underselling LDU, he got what, 18 votes in a dog poo team, he's likely a decent chance at winning the Charlie in a decent to good team. Bolton, for how he is (not was) wouldn't be valued nearly as highly.
How was this draft compromised??
It was considered 1 of the deepest drafts for a long time and even your club were trying to trade your F1 for picks between 15-20 and eventually got a pick 27 to get back in.

Im not underselling LDU at all but good luck trying to get the picks that were mentioned for him
If north finish bottom 5 they will take the compo and move on

But i doubt he leaves and will get a massive deal and stay a 1 club player
North have the money to pay him and would hate to lose a player like LDU both as a player and also for club purposes as the supporters would go into meltdown

Wasn't compromised for you, you had a bevy of picks. Some of whom should end up ok, maybe even good.

NGA, amongst QLD academy bollocks to answer your question.

I would see LDU leaving as disappointing but won’t melt down. You seemed to survive the loss of Bolton and Rioli.

Good article from Pagan in today’s paper. If we were to lose a good mid - it’s one area we have covered.

Richmond and North are at the very different stages
North have been in a rebuild for 6-8 years and LDU should be there for the next 6-7 years when North should be competing for a flag where as Richmond is in year 1 of the rebuild where Rioli certainly wont be part of our next tilt and Bolton will be in his 30's

Still no one likes see top players leave but the sky will remain - in the sky.

I agree with Pagan - we will be able to cover the loss.

What does North have to finish to break even on their pick trade?
Assuming that we'd have used it on a tall anyway because our list balance sucks, and bearing in mind that no experienced player worth pick 3/4/5 in a trade would come to North until we've vying for finals, I reckon we can finish where ever from 3 onwards, so long as the consensus best tall after F/S and academies turns out on par with Whitlock.

Duff-Tytler won't be available at that point. So does Cody Curtin or Ludowyke present as a dramatically better prospect than Whitlock?

What does North have to finish to break even on their pick trade?
AFL tonight has our pick at 8 the saints who are 14th as pick 13!!! It’s why the draft is a mess - Tigers should have 3 and Saints 5. Something has to change.

All it comes down to for us to break even is the sum of Whitlock and Tigs 2nd rounder being equal to the player the Tigers take with our pick.

IMO we should never have done this trade - but it will be a while before we know if it was ok or a howler.

Not the right question.

The correct question is: What position would M Whitlock go in the upcoming draft if he were available?

Top 10, Top 6?
I dont think that is actually the correct question
North already had the pick to draft Matt Whitlock but traded it away for Daniel and Whitlock in this draft would be opinion based with some saying pick #10 and others pick #30 and you will never know

But lets just assumed you selected Matt with your own selection so the comparison should be
Which player North select with Richmonds round 2 pick plus daniel v the player selected with Norths pick #3 in 2025
