You can guarantee that in 5 years time we won't still be bottom 3 like you guys are

Who you gonna get at 4?

Ohh that's right another piece of the puzzle in the worlds fastest ever rebuild?

Your last one took 37 years, can't see this one taking any less time.
Richmond having a 37 year gap between flags doesn’t make the trade any better. :)

If we drafted Whitlock with our own second rounder we wouldn’t have Daniel and wouldnt have traded our future first with Richmond.

If we are going to consider our original second rounder in 2024 then it should be…

Daniel + Whitlock + Richmond 2025 second pick

Compared to

Richmond's choice using North’s 2025 first rounder

Matt was touted as going at 10 wasn't he? We made the trade on the fly given that he was still available, the compromised 2025 draft, the strength of the 2025 draft and our clubs needs.

Last player we need is another midfielder.
Twoomey and ESPN drafts had Matt at 23 and starting into the mix around 17-ish.

I dont think North would be giving too much air time to criticism from an Essendon supporter, whose club missed on every single pick they had between 2018 and 2022.
How does club support translate to football knowledge?

Are Collingwood supporters the most knowledgeable?

No it doesnt, but your potting North when your club is a mess. Comfortably the worst club at the draft table for the last decade at least.

The Whitlock move was aggressive, which is what they needed to be. Theres even some talk amongst Port circles that the brothers are very keen to play together sooner rather than later, and that won't be happening in Adelaide.

its also a horrible draft this year.

I dont think that is actually the correct question
North already had the pick to draft Matt Whitlock but traded it away for Daniel and Whitlock in this draft would be opinion based with some saying pick #10 and others pick #30 and you will never know

But lets just assumed you selected Matt with your own selection so the comparison should be
Which player North select with Richmonds round 2 pick plus daniel v the player selected with Norths pick #3 in 2025

The pick we drafted Whitlock with was before the pick we traded for Daniel, not much before but nonetheless, before. These can both be looked at as good or bad trades however people like but unsure they should be linked.

At that, we tried our arses off to trade again to snare Jack Whitlock and we certainly would have taken him with the Daniel pick.

Paige just had to ring the next of kin of a deceased estate to find out how things were progressing.

So what?

My clubs shit so I can't comment on others?

You’re welcome - we like watching ess players born in 2005 play. It’s a really funny reminder of days since……
Haha, maybe Essendon fans should have a count the last time you guys beat us? How many years has it been now 😁

Can comment on whatever you want, but saying its a rubbish trade is very strong.

It wont compare to rubbish trades like for Shiel or making Ben Mckay the highest paid player in the comp.
So what does Essendon have to do with my opinions on this trade?

If west coast get pick 2 for Allen I think it will go…

1. Duursma
2. Sharp
3. Grij
4. CDT

Im a bit iffy on picking a ruck that high though.

Was the infamous 2012 year when you got some extra help? Or was it 2016 - the year when you had 34 players suspended??

When your claim to fame is beating us the bar has really been set low at Windy Hill.

Those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones and all that...

McGrath - Pick 1
Parish - Pick 5
Hobbs - Pick 13
Tsatas - Pick 5
Perkins - Pick 9
Cox - Pick 8

Man that makes for very dire reading.
Whats Essendon's poor history got to do with North's trade?

It doesn’t look great does it? Essendon fudged a lot of early round draft picks in Dodoros tenure.

Seems at least we are on the right track now with Caddy, Archie roberts, kako, Angus Clarke, May…..time will tell

I love how much north supporters hate Essendon.

Err, surely Essendon supporters would be experts on shit trades, no?

Yeah but he's probably the best candidate. He will be a wait, but worth it.

We'd have gone another Duursma, probably couldn't have avoided it!

Hate to support my clubs' poor calls but if they were playing 4D Chess and you were playing checkers, well done to them. I'd imagine we just got 'lucky' though!

Whitlock was pick #27 which Richmond traded to north and the next pick Richmond selected Tom Sims then it was the bulldogs selection Lachie Jacques who is a mid sized player and i would highly doubt Matt Whitlock wouldnt have been available at that selection had it not been traded.

I think another comparison to keep an eye on would be Tom Sims v Matt Whitlock
Considering Richmond traded that pick and bypassed Whitlock and North Selecting Whitlock over Sims
