Ok cool Shadow.

I had my honeymoon from Cairns to Port Douglas (including WINDY Palm Cove).

Went really well at the time.

Divorced.
I had my first wedding at Palm Cove - ended in divorce.

Something in the water there?

In all the years I've lived in Cairns, have never bumped into Blighty on the street. What would be the odds of that? 1,000,000 to 1 at least.

You need to venture on to some golf courses.

Goddard also rubbished suggestions that Lyon isn’t capable of rebuilding a list like North Melbourne’s.

“And all this talk about Ross Lyon not being able to go through a rebuild … what a load of BS,” he said.

“He’s got the ability to turn the club around quicker than anyone I know. I’ve obviously experienced it, I know what he’s like.

Turning a club around isn't rebuilding tho is it Seagull.

Yeah taking over a list with Riewoldt, Hayes, Goddard, Del Santo, Milne, and a few others all in their prime is hardly rebuilding.

North Melbourne should reach out to former St Kilda and Fremantle coach Ross Lyon, according to Brendon Goddard.

SEN’s Sam Edmund reported on Tuesday that the Kangaroos have drawn up a list of 10 candidates to be their next senior coach after Rhyce Shaw parted ways with the club.

Paul Roos looks set to join the Roos and will have a role to play on the newly-formed coaching panel.

Goddard says reuniting Roos and Lyon makes sense given the pair masterminded Sydney’s drought-breaking premiership in 2005.

“If I’m North Melbourne, I’m definitely making a phone call, especially if you’re getting Paul Roos in,” Goddard told Trade Mornings on AFL Trade Radio.

“It’s well known that their relationship is really strong, and their history is really strong. Imagine those two working (together) side by side?”

Goddard also rubbished suggestions that Lyon isn’t capable of rebuilding a list like North Melbourne’s.

“He’s got the ability to turn the club around quicker than anyone I know. I’ve obviously experienced it, I know what he’s like.

“Even talking to people at Fremantle and the job that he did there and his ability to adapt and evolve into a Gen Y and Gen Z coach and man management; how he deals with players these days, delegating more.

“He’s changed a lot and he’s a smart man. He evolves with the times.”

Lyon guided the Saints and Dockers to four Grand Finals in 2009, 2010, 2010 (replay) and 2013 but the ultimate success eluded him.

Ha ha ha, who else does he ”know”? Is he comparing Lyon to those that have coached him for a decent period? What, Grant Thomas and James Hird. Of course you would take Lyon over those two.

Quite timely I'd take Baldric over him too.

I'm going to hire Hutchy as my right hand man because clearly that campaigner knows everything.

I'm putting Carro on as the midfield coach to teach the basics. Nobody goes lower and harder than Carro

And I'm bringing on Tom Browne as the ruck coach because I want my rucks to do not think and that flog hasn't had an original thought in 25 years.

From there mix it up between angry and praise with no reasoning for either to keep the players on edge.

Point lots

Get rid of pointless meetings

Whenever I'm walking around the club and people look busy, I'll act like i'm sending an email on my phone.

Bring back the bif

Michael Voss name keeps popping up in the media and even Scooby has mentioned we are hot on him

Wtf has he done? He did nothing at Brisbane (was it 4 years?) I honestly don’t know how or why he fits North?

I hope we take our due diligence with this. Extremely important we get this right
He fits because the media says so. I don't think he'll be our final choice

Simon Lloyd is a new name to the potential list. Obviously more in the admin side now but only completed the level 4 in 2017 so he was thinking of staying coaching not long ago. He is well spoken from the clips I've seen. Also has worked under Lyon so the might fit nicely with the "Sydney style" that Blakey is familiar with.

Very similar stepping stones to Fagan. I like the sound of him tbh.

North appoints well-rounded coaching panel

North Melbourne has formed a coaching selection panel, with Paul Roos joining the club in its search for a new head coach.

Roos will join North CEO Ben Amarfio, GM football Brady Rawlings, Board member and football director Glenn Archer, Board member Sonja Hood and Centre for Leadership Advantage co-founder and director, Terry Coyne.

The panel will be facilitated by Bruno Conti, Partner at one of Australia’s leading recruitment firms, SHK Asia Pacific.

The experienced Roos joins North after senior coaching stints at the Sydney Swans (2002-2010) and Melbourne (2014-2016). His successful coaching career which yielded a premiership in 2005, followed a stellar playing career that included 356 games over 17 seasons with Fitzroy (1982-1994) and Sydney (1995-1998).

After hanging up the boots at the Swans as a player, Roos remained at the club and progressed into the senior coaching role in 2002. It wasn’t long until he led the club to the ultimate success in 2005; its first flag in 72 seasons. The Swans played finals in seven of the eight seasons Roos was at the helm. Roos came out of retirement in 2013 when he joined Melbourne as coach.

Coyne is a highly respected organisational psychologist. Since 1983 he has worked across most facets of Australian business and sport. In 1989 he co-founded Coyne Didsbury which was acquired by global consulting firm Personnel Decisions in 2002. He continued as CEO and Executive Consultant until 2013.

Archer played 311 games for the Kangaroos including premierships in 1996 and 1999, a Norm Smith Medal, three All-Australian nods, Shinboner of the Century and a member of North’s Team of the Century. In 2015 he accepted the role as Football Director at the Kangaroos, which saw him spend numerous years assisting key football department personnel in all areas including coaching, medical, strength and conditioning, and list and management strategy.

Hood, CEO of Community Hubs Australia and Board Chair of McAuley Community Services for Women, was a key player in mobilising the North supporter base when the AFL attempted to relocate the club to the Gold Coast in 2007. She also led the club’s community-arm, The Huddle, when she was GM Community Engagement.

Rawlings played 245 games in the royal blue and white stripes and is a three-time Syd Barker Medal winner. He spent six years at the premiership-winning West Coast Eagles as an assistant coach and list manager before returning to Arden St last year.

Amarfio boasts experience at the highest levels of international sports, media and marketing, having spent time as Executive GM at Cricket Australia and General Manager at Southern Cross Austereo. He also held senior roles at the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the AFL.

Specialising in executive appointments, Conti’s experience includes time as Chairman of the Victorian Amateur Football Association.

North chairman, Ben Buckley, said he has full confidence in the coaching panel, which brings an array of different experiences.

“We are thrilled to have Paul and Terry among our coaching panel, alongside Ben, Brady, Sonja and Glenn,” Buckley told North Media.

“Our aim is to identify and appoint the best coach available. We firmly believe we have established a well-rounded coaching panel to help us identify the person that can bring us success and build a foundation for the future.

“We have been working on a shortlist of candidates and will be conducting interviews shortly. We expect to be in a position to announce the successful candidate in due course.”
