I've been thinking about this since the rumors started circulating. I suppose Buckley probably has a few ideas or agendas where he sees the club over the next 5 years and being an experienced operator he realises that change at the top is important, and a new fresh outlook is required at times. Any business needs this from time to time. It could be as simple as that. Of course there are probably some shortfalls that have been identified as well, Scott extension could be the obvious one.

Club's image could be better as well, considering how much we achieved off the field, yet haven't converted this into growth, and haven't focused enough on the "on-field" stuff, at least from real success point of view. Only two semi successful finals series in 10 years isn't really enough, haven't finished top 4 since 2007.
Good post. On the off-field stuff, there's been enormous growth and change in his time. Everything from the Arden Street redevelopment to the fact we now have four - four! - teams. Perhaps he was the man for that period, and now we need someone with a different skill set.

We're going to look completely different on-field next season with this much change. Anyone who had concerns re needing a new message to the players, that has well and truly been addressed this off-season. It will be fascinating to see how the players adapt because it will have been the most upheaval most of them, if not all, would have seen in their careers.

Yep, we are definitely not finished.
Do you think there is still a senior ‘coaching director’ type role to come, or is Rawlings it?

Good one
Truly amazing

Well you have banged on about picking up a perennially injured player as if he’s the golden key for so long I assumed his name is seared into your brain

Obviously they don't see his VFL role as a problem. Either that, or simply his departure hasn't been announced yet.
Crocker still there is another interesting one.

With all these massive changes I don't mind having a hold over from the old guard. He can be a sounding board on what happened previously for coaches and source of stability for players.
