Move it to the G. Guaranteed 80+ thousand every year.

It just makes sense. Everyone knows it. The AFL especially knows it. Would be a $$$$ cow!!!
Just need Kevin Sheedy to start a narrative on it and HERE, WE, GO!

The AFL is rigged, in-house private school networks perpetuate the incredibly biased ‘FIXture’.
In other news, water is wet and the sky is blue

And....one day we might all get a true ‘draw’. Where all teams play each other equally( either once or twice) and the fixture has no preferences for dates or timeslots but earned on merit that is known and equally achievable to all clubs, ie Premiers get top billing down to wooden spoon getting Sunday arvo’s. In other words totally incentivised on ladder position with no other external BS.

You do realise the AFL is a business right?

This argument doesn't wash. The EPL is a business too. Seems to be going pretty ok with a very fair draw.

People like to go on (and on, and on) about the draw being 'fair'

Without drastically changing the current amount of games played, how do we get a 100% fair draw?

17 games means you don't get a return home / away game; 34 means the season is onerously long; 17-5 means it's still not 100% fair and even.

The way the draw is used is a combination of balancing (or attempting to, given you never know how good a team will be on any given round) the draw to help limit the gaps between best and worst, and commercial interests such as broadcasters and marquee games.

The AFL is hardly the most transparent and honest organisation going around, but the amount of people who go on about the fixture being some kind of incredible conspiracy is crazy.

Grow the game.
20 teams
19 round season
6 weeks of finals.

Easy.

And?

Why are you coming into this thread bleating the blindingly obvious?

Awesome.

You go organise the 34 home and away games.

One day Footscray might carry us and pay our bills.

Easy.

And further dilute talent in an already heavily diluted competition.

Ok Boncer. Initially seemed challenging.. but in the end only took me about ten seconds because it turns out everyone plays each other twice!!!

Just saying that fair and lucrative aren’t mutually exclusive.

You could have 22 games and have it fair. Eg the last 5 could be actually drawn. Or could be based exclusively on ladder position.

It’s not an incredible conspiracy. It’s just not as fair as it could be.
