Can they avoid their annual sliding form???? They seem a little better or 'concrete' than in previous years, but somehow it seems as if they will fall into similar trends.

What do you guys think?

I think they'll keep going. May well have let the success of 05 go to their heads last year.

They look good ATM.

What annual sliding form?

They have done that once.

Go you mighty Cowboys!! :thumbsu:
Merely trying to get a NRTHQLD response ;) Seems Rugby fans have a little more sense than the rest of BigFooty

Nah but now a serious question, what do they have this year that suggests theyll keep on going?

When a certain Cowboys player got sent to the bin on Saturday, the Dragons scored 18 unanswered points I believe.

As usual, I believe the Cowboys chances will lie on the shoulders of this man again.

Have to strongly disagree with you there.

JT is IMO in the top 3 players in the comp so obviously he will be extremly important to our chances, however, there are the likes of Matty Bowen who is back in good form, Jason Smith, even though he's 35 is still able to help lead the cowboys and take alot of pressure off JT.

Our forward pack is very strong. Scott and Webb (if fit in time) will play origin this year and Aaron Payne is one of the best hookers in the game. Luke O'Donnell is a Test and Origin Forward as well so there is a great strength there.

Last year during our form slump, there was too much of a reliance on JT to play well, I don't think he will have to carry as much of the burden. Also i think last year, many people forgot how important Paul Rauhihi was to the cowboys, i think now they can finally cover him as Matty Scott has been able to take the next step.

The biggest factor is the likes of Southern, Lillyman, Graham, Sweeney, the second tier players, if they can play well, the Cowboys will be extremly hard to stop.

I believe the demons of last year will still be in their heads and they won't want that feeling again. I also believe that Jonathon Thurston is alot more mature this year and will be more or a leader, particularly with Jason Smith at the club who makes an impact where ever he goes.

There is a good chance of a N.QLD v Melbourne GF although I hope the mighty Penrith Panthers can change that.

Yeah JT is a pretty different plyer now... bit disconcerning that hes such a key to the machine....
DO they have the experience to make it in the finals???? thats why I think the Storm will get in, now they have last year to reflect on

At 1/2 time on Sat night, I had them pencilled in for a GF spot, but the 2nd half by them wasn't great, especially the way they played against the Broncos and the way the smashed the Roosters.

I don't rate St George at the moment, so I wasn't impressed with NQ second half.

Yes, I believe they have the experience for finals footy. Alot of them played in the 2005 GF as well as the semi finals. They now have Jason Smith as well who is a guru and has a heap of finals experience with Canterbury, Parrascum, Canberra and now N.QLD.

The Storm will be there, as will N.QLD.

Pantsless: I don't rate the Saints much but they do have alot of young fellas who are real 'tryers'. They aren't the team to throw in the towel (like the Roosters :) ) It seems in a lot of Cowboys games, they get to where they need to be and then 'take the foot off the throat' in the second half. They slowed up against the Roosters too.

Yahoo. Go Cowbows. Go Blues. I'm in form atm!!! :D
Early days yet tho some happy faces around me ATM. See what happens when the CB's have to head south in the colder months.

Hi CattyBD, I don't want to be too cheeky but as a Cairns resident (your the only one i know of who follows AFL in your part of the world from reading your posts on BF) would you know if the Casino in Cairns has an area where footy games are shown e.g a sports bar set up? Especially this Easter w'end as i will be toddling up there for a break and hopefully might catch a game or 2 on a big screen around the casino.

cheers

Biggest worry comes around Origin time when our players and coach goes off. And the loss of webb hurts

Still very confident in my boys, i reckon we'll be there deep in the finals
