When this team got kicked out of the NRL I was actually quite saddened by this and I believe they deserve to go back into the NRL competition.

Now I'm quite sure why this team was kicked out but if its because of the region they are in why not at least get them to represent another area?
It would be great to see this team back in the comp.

Get them to represent the Sunshine Coast and if they cant do that in the NRL at least get them to go into the QRL the Sunshine Coast is growing every year and is fastly becoming one of the biggest regions in australia. I dont believe there would be any money issues if they were to move to the Sunshine Coast I think if any were to represent The Sunshine coast it would be yet another good result for Queensland.

I thought the desire of Redcliffe to Brand themselves as the 'Sunshine Coast Dolphins' for the next round of admissions was just about one of the Worst kept secrets in Queensland?

If Norths had any sense they would have hitched their wagon to the WA Reds.

North Shore/Central Coast has a population of 800,000 why wouldn't you put a league team here? Oh that's right because Adelaide are crying out for one to go with their two AFL teams...too late I'm afraid.

Acutally Im sure most Adelaidians dont care if there is a RL team here or not - Not enough fans

Unfortunately this state will only ever be Footy or Cricket obsessed

Even if they did have one I wouldnt change from me Rabbitohs

Exactly Adelaide bring nothing to the RL table other than a tick on a map.

I'm sick of hearing that there are too many teams in Sydney as it isn't the case at all.

We had 12 teams and that was too many we now have 8.5 and we are still saying there are too many.

Tell me what happened to the thousands of Bears supporters? Are they following other league clubs or watching union and AFL?

If there was a city outside NSW that had a population, which is growing, of 800,000 we'd all be saying put a team there. Well there is it just happens to be close to Sydney.

I just think a team of 16 is the best viable option

You dont want too many teams as then there will always be 2-3 teams who will consistently play poorly... If they brought in another Syd team, would they bring in another team to make it even numbers again??? Keep the top 8 maybe

The AFL can put a team in but we can't? Why? It's BS that Sydney can't sustain at least 10 teams. It's a growing city, league should be looking to monopilise Sydney, this will ensure our future. Afterall if we didn't rate on TV in Sydney we'd be stuffed.

Wouldnt the fan base get stretched beyond its limits???

I know thats a serious issue with Melbourne and the AFL with extremely low membership numbers for some clubs, don't you think its possible for too many clubs to be in the picture and threaten the financial security of some other clubs?

RL has always been mismanaged or ruined by self interest, except for the Arko and Canon years, the game has a heap of growth left in it.

10 years ago we were told we could only sustain 14 clubs, today we have 16.

We are constantly fed media agenda which isn't true eg Souths were dead a few years ago, as were Manly now look at them. We lost Sydney clubs during the SL war not because the clubs wouldn't survive but due to poor management and a lack of revenue, TV rights sold for 10 million a year, sponsors and spectators turning away etc. Now look how much the game is making and it's still riddled with self interest.
If Cronulla(financial) or Roosters (juniors and support) can survive, why can't Norths, Balmain etc. Balmain are redeveloping their leagues club and are looking for new revenue streams in property as opposed to pokies. Pro-active professional management. One thing AFL has all over RL.

The option of taking clubs out of Sydney is too easy. Take St.George Illawarra
we were told they were going to be a powerhouse club, on Friday they drew 9000 and during their existance have averaged about 12500. Illawarra and St.George between them before the merged they averaged 20,000 and during the good years they were up around 26,000 as STI they could manage only 13-14,000. Remember they use to play regularly in their district and not once every 4-6 weeks. North Sydney averaged 15,000 where are these supporters today?

Toy with the fabric of the game which is Sydney and you damage it. Grow it yes, but do not weken it's base, strengthen it.

I think it's horrible teams have merged. I can't beleive a famous club like st.george were forced to merge. At least i know the storm would never merge, as i hate teams that merge. kills tradition and was very sad to see for such a famous club like st.george.

Merger in name only I reckon , St George got Illawarra juniors and Illawarra got the occasional mention at the end of St George's name , typical short sighted NRL . The team should be Illawarra St George Dragons play all home games at Wollongong .

Sydney clubs and Broncos killed off Souths , Crushers , Gold Coast , Adelaide , Perth , Hunter to ensure their profitability , good of the game never considered .

NRL acclaimed crowds in first week of season when blind freddy could see it highlighted a major problem ie two games in Brisbane provided well over 50% of the crowd . The game can support 16 clubs , could have supported 16 clubs 10 years ago but they wouldn't put the teams where the people were .

Personally I hope the Central Coast Bears get in the comp sometime soon , red and black have been unseen for too long , having a competition in Australia without a Magpie is also verging on being unAustralian .

As a North Melbourne supporter along with a Brisbane Brothers supporter I can tell you North relocating to the Gold Coast is a better option than losing your team ie Brothers in QRL .
