I struggle to see how you miss a session of training unless you are on the piss the night before. Sleeping in and missing an 8 or 9am session?

Odd from Hosie, as he portrays the complete opposite on the field, is an absolute work horse.

Need to put serious time into their key forwards membrey, king, Ryder

Membrey looking dangerous tonight

backing Walker Taz Daw to do the job but they will need people dropping in the hole

They have just about the worst forward line in the comp. If we’re concerned about that lot than we have much bigger concerns than round 1.
I’m more concerned about their smaller brigade if anything. The likes of Gresham, Lonie, Butler, Savage, etc are more likely to be our Achilles heal.
King will look promising this year, but I can’t see him doing a hell of a lot of damage until at least next year.
Ryder has looked cooked for 2 years. Let’s wait for the real stuff to start before we announce a second coming.
Membrey is a good player, but the fact he will most likely be their leading goal kicker indicates to me where their forward line is at.
After letting Bruce go, they have a lot riding on an ageing Ryder and King who is basically a first year player.
Round 1 results are always a mixed bag, but I can’t see them improving much on last year, unless Ratten can work magic over one off season.
Let’s not forget with all the recruits they got, that they have lost their best forward and best mid.

Did Hosie miss a session? Is that why he's completely out of the squad for tonight?

I haven't seen this reported, but if true, it is a good time of year to set an example I suppose.

My round 1 team:

B: Daw Walker Williams
HB: Atley Tarrant Pittard
C: Dumont Cunnington Polec
HF: Thomas Larkey Ziebell
F: Turner Brown Zurhaar
FO: Goldstein Simpkin Higgins

INT: LDU Scott Anderson Ahern

Happy to see the back of Macmillan and Mcdonald. Bonar, Wood, EVW, Jacobs*, Mckay, Hall all providing decent depth for us.

Turner in by skin of his teeth but no real small up forward without him

I can’t see Polec playing round 1
your team needs more Garner also, at the very least as the 7th forward rotation

B: McDonald Tarrant Daw/durdin
HB: Pittard Walker Ahern
C: Dumont Simpkin LDU
HF: Ziebell Larkey Thomas
F: Turner Brown Zurhaar
R: Goldy Higgins Cunners
I: Atley Bonar Garner Anderson

Polec won’t be match fit for round 1
Daw v Durdin to see who plays on Ryder/3rd tall
Hosie/Wood should be considered as a 3rd tall

You got the no Williams right

After the Williams verdict:

B: McDonald - Tarrant - Daw
HB: Atley - Walker/Durdin - Pittard
C: Dumont - Ziebell - Polec (fitness??)
HF: Simpkin - Larkey - Thomas
F: Garner - Brown - Zurhaar
R: Goldstein - Higgins - Cunnington

Int: Ahern - Anderson - LDU - Bonar

If Polec isn't fit, we slide one of the Int players to the wing, and bring one of Scott or LDU in.

This was hard to pick so our midfield rotation depth is pretty good. I really hope Aaron Hall can fit in the rotation picture too.

Pretty easy team to select:

B: Walker Tarrant McDonald
HB: Pittard Daw Atley
C: Hall Higgins Polec
HF: Thomas Larkey Garner
F: Anderson Brown Zurhaar
R: Goldy Cunners Simpkin
I: Bonar LDU Ahern Ziebell

Em: Xerri Taylor Scott Durdin

Plenty of others in contention but a base line skill set of mobility and class needs to be mandated. We have enough blokes doing jobs, just get the ball and pick the easiest option that you can execute 9/10 times. It’s really not that ******* difficult.

I was led to believe Scamper was all over this.

B: Turner - Tarrant - Pittard
HB: Atley - Walker - Ahern/Wood
C: Dumont - Ziebell - Scott
HF: Simpkin - Larkey - Thomas
F: Garner - Brown - Zurhaar
R: Goldstein - Higgins - Cunnington

Int: Anderson - LDU - Bonar - Hosie/Taylor

But let’s see what pans out in the next few weeks

Births intent was pretty good the other night, in the second qtr they dominated except the last kick into the fwd 50. My concerns revolve from half back, Atley and McDonald I have no confidence in whatsoever.

This would be my side with some spots up for grabs. I would also be super cautious with Ziebell and give him an extra week to be firing

B Mcmillan Tarrant walker
HB pittard durdin. ?????
C Scott Cunnington Bonar
Hf Thomas Wood Anderson
F Larkey Brown Zurrharr
Fill Goldy Dumont Higgins
Inter LDU Simpkin Taylor Ahern

If LDU, Simpkin, Bonar, Ahern all make significant strides forward I would use Higgins off half back to set the play up.

I like the synergy wood, Larkey and brown have, the second half last year looked dangerous, with wood the lead up fwd, brown lead up from the goalsquare and Larkey on a second defender pushing back Josh Jenkins style. Taylor looks a natural fwd Stevie J, dan mental style which works in well with the bulls Anderson and Zurrharr.

You have great depth in the middle with no room for hall or Tyson, or McDonald or Atley.
I think north have great upside and a sneaky top4 when they add Ziebell and polec into the side

B: Turner - Tarrant - Pittard
HB: Atley - Walker - Ahern/Wood
C: Dumont - Ziebell - Scott
HF: Simpkin - Larkey - Thomas

Int: Anderson - LDU - Bonar - Hosie/Taylor

I think we have a long way to go in order to finish top 4. The skills looked awful against the Dogs so I'm hoping we can clean those up quickly. Ziebell will play no matter what however, as he is a fighter.

HB: Atley Walker McDonald
C: Scott Higgins Simpkin
HF: Thomas Larkey Hall
F: Zurhaar Brown Hosey
R: Goldstein Cunnington LDU
I: Majak Jed Ziebell Bonar
E: Dumont Ahern Tyson

The makeup of the side just looks off.
Ziebell and Polec underdone.
No Jacobs.
Same old players with the same bullshit.

I count seven players that are not 'same old players'.

And quite a few more who are only starting their careers.

Don't need Durdin and Daw. Keeping Daw and bringing in Dumont.
