Head to head: North - 6, Gold Coast - 5.

Most Goals:
Ben Brown - 6

What it means for North Melbourne: Another chance to solidify the Rhyce Shaw regime. After taking over from Brad Scott as coach last week, Shaw got off to the best possible start with a physical, high-pressure demolition of Richmond.

The stat: Historically, Gold Coast has done as well against North Melbourne as it has against any other opponent. The Suns have won five from 11 matches (a winning percentage of 45), which is identical to their record against Carlton. They are 3-3 at Metricon Stadium.

The match-up: David Swallow v Ben Cunnington. Two of the hardest men in the AFL should square off in the midfield. Cunnington (No.9 in the AFL Player Ratings) is ranked second in the competition for both total clearances and centre clearances and although Swallow (No.104) might not always be his direct opponent, the influence of both around the stoppages will go a long way towards determining the result.

It’s a big week for: Jack Ziebell. Big milestone for the Kangaroos skipper this week as he chalks up game number 200. Ziebell has shifted from the forward line back into the midfield in recent weeks and was excellent in the win over the Tigers.

I think the suns will come out a bit fired up from last weeks smashing, will not matter in the end.
NORTH BY 30

If we bring last week's intensity we will smash Gold Coast. While their midfield is no pushover with some hard nuts like Swallow, McPherson, Miles and Fiorini, their defence looks ripe for the picking. If we get on top in the midfield this could be a flogging.

Kick long to the forwards as they are exposed without their two tall pillars in defense in Thompson and Collins so no excuses today.

Hearing that there might be a late change or 2. Ahern & Hayden or Taylor travelling up this morning.

We’ll get an idea if I’m right or wrong with who runs out for the VFL side.

It will be raining here from about 12ish onwards for most of the game so it would be a good idea to bring another mid in

Okay first things first.

Starting the 'game day thread's before the actual 'game day' is bad karma.

Anyone think we should delete this thread and start a new one?

I'm not even kidding. Superstition in sports is real.
