Brendon Bolton's trust in Carlton's young guns is paying off for @NBluesFC in the @VFL. Read: http://bit.ly/2pyMTKs

BRENDON Bolton’s trust in Carlton’s alignment with Northern Blues has been evident during the opening six rounds of the AFL season.

Seven players who represented Northern Blues in their first game of 2017 against Port Melbourne on April 8 have since played in the club’s senior team.
Cameron Polson, Alex Silvagni, Nicholas Graham, Zac Fisher, Dennis Armfield, Andrew Phillips and Billie Smedts have been part of Bolton’s team this year, which has featured a host of debutants.

I was really surprised how little Pickett was involved but , although he kicked 3 goals , Galucci wasn't much better.

Maybe not their kind of day.
I reckon we have a ready made replacement for Galluci's rookie list spot next season.
Sammy "rat" Fowler kicked 5 in the dev league. Love to see him get a chance.

Like Galooch last week it seems that Cunners underperformed when a spot in the 1s was his for the taking. Frustrating.
'Underperformed' is a little harsh mate.

They both played well...just didn't absolutely dominate.

I mean, Galluci kicked 3 and Cunners did some nice things throughout the game and seems to be building pretty nicely.

Probably harsh but I'm impatient and was hoping he'd be ready to bash the door down. He does seem to be a bit meeker than the other young guys so perhaps there's merit in not throwing him back into the 1s until he's absolutely ready.

Just feel like he needs to know that he belongs - it will click! He's seen a few "go past" him now and is probably second-guessing his ability and whether or not he has a place in the seniors. With so many kids it's important to have plenty of mentors around who can put things in perspective, boost the confidence a bit and give a little rev up when required. Interesting to hear Williamson and Marchbank praise ASOS so much; also interesting to hear that the youngsters have a lot of time for Daisy.

That is the raw footage?
Just checked and it seems to be the same footage we saw on Sunday but without the commentary.

Just thinking it wouldn't take too much to film the game from one viewpoint and then post it on our VFL channel.

I'd sooner get the view the coaches may look at, than worrying about tracking the movement with close-ups.

It's lacking the overlay from the coverage, so it seems like raw footage.

As to whether it was the same camera, those are the same clips used in the club's higlights package, so I'm inclined to think it's the NB camera.

6 tackles for Cuningham.
Although not in the best with minimal possessions, I think this will endear him to the coach.
We are giving good ball users first priority in the seniors.
If you can't rack em up you must tackle hard. It's a start.

Polson had two tackles.
A lot of what Cuningham does gives us something we don't have much of.
He certainly needs to get hand on ball a lot more regularly and as much as we want him to learn the inside mid craft, it just doesn't seem to be his go.
He's good in traffic, but just doesn't seem to read the ball well off ruck-mans hands.

VFL player review: Round 3

14. Liam Jones
Stats: 16 disposals, 9 marks (5 contested), 5 tackles, 2 goals
From the coach: A tremendous game again, playing in a number of rules through the ruck, as a defender and also up forward. His contested work and his pressure was terrific, while his leadership from the front was really important.
45. Dale Thomas
Stats: 30 disposals, 13 marks (4 contested), 6 clearances, 5 goal assists, 1 goal
From the coach: We thought he put together a really solid game for us. Overriding everything, his influence on the group with his leadership was first-class, as was his ability to use the ball throughout the game.

Great insight, thanks. Hard to judge unless you are at the ground.
Such an important trait for a midfielder.

From TV watching I get the impression Fisher and Williamson have this natural ability, maybe Samo.
I think Fisher has it in spades but gets bumped out too easily to actually get his hands on it.

62. Blaine Boekhorst
Stats: 27 disposals, 7 marks, 11 handball receives, 4 inside 50s, 1 goal
From the coach: He ran and endured all day, both off a wing and spending time up forward. He’s had much more game involvement with his possession and work-rate in recent weeks and continues working on areas of his game.

7. Dylan Buckley
Stats: 16 disposals, 5 marks, 5 handball receives, 1 goal
From the coach: ‘Bucks’ defended his man really well as part of our six. He’s still building consistency with his method in one-on-one contests, but offensively he was a weapon for us with his run and carry.
