I may be wrong but there doesnt seem to be enough HATE or MONGREL in our side when we play . I dont mean go and punch the hell out of the opposition ,i mean not enough hard at the ball situations ALL the TIME, not prepared to walk through brick walls for each other , some play like there is a tomorrow ...you should play each game as if there is no tomorrow .
Respect the opposition but hate them when on the field .They are the opposition not your mate/s .

i was thinking this when davey was felled by a cheap shot from merritt after he kicked a goal in the 3rd term.

a square up then and there would have prolly reversed the goal, but i thought our players could have done more in asserting themselves as a team.

exactly what i was thinking, we need to stick up for our younger blokes... especially davey, his tiny. when someone like merritt takes him out thats when lloyd needs to run in and belt him.... i wouldnt care if we got a few suspensions from sticking up for our younger blokes.. i would have liked to see a little melee start up after that, but the only person who did anything was one of our smallest blokes in monfries.. bit dissapointed in that

All that stuff is crap.

Merret hardly touched him.

What we need is guys that are hard at the ball EVERY week and don't pull out of contests or that will not take small steps to make sure they don't get to a contest where they will have to put their body on the line.

All that push and shove crap is nothing, where as attack at the ball and man is what is needed.
Finding players that are quick and hard at it, seems harder to find these days.

Pushing and shoving, when you know you will not get hurt is all bluff and means nothing.

Taking a hit, backing into a pack, putting your head over the ball takes courage and provides inspiration to your team.

Last years Grand Final was a classic example of the Sydney team putting scrags on or taking the Eagles players out just to distract them .The Eagles got on with the game .When a player was flattened not many helped ,,they were aware of the consequences if they did ...hard at the ball and all day at doing it etc etc ...and won .If they retaliated they would have lost .I just want constant hardeness all day , all the game ..no let up .

I tend to agree, not really enough guts. I don't believe that every single player on a team needs to be as tough as nails, but we do need a few more blokes who are willing to do anything to stop an opposition player, or get the ball in a contested situation or back into packs.

One bloke who i think was awesome at these practices was Hardwick, they did say the softest thing about him were his teeth. I also think young Slatts has got some balls on him and could over time develop into the Hardwickesque type. That is of course as long as he steers clear of Campo, quite seriously I've seen harder things come out of a Mr Whippy van then that bloke.

I think we have plenty of hardnuts, they just aren't the silly hardnuts like Solomon was giving away frees foolishly. How much harder do you want it than the way Pev stood his ground and his eyes never left the ball knowing Big Mal and JB were gunning at him?
