I've been thinking about this a bit more and I'm willing to trade him to ensure that we win the premiership next year. Let's get Croad - he'd perform under Lethal, and a first round pick to get a new (local) boy to train up for the midfield.
I agree, after the GF I had mixed feelings on Des's decision. But now that he's gone (of course it won't be to easy) maybe we could get someone else like Trent Croad that would be a bonus.Originally posted by MSB ROYS
If this is true let him go. Get Croad or somebody else that wants to play for the team.
It's a pity that Headland was picked for the GF team in retrospect. I would rather have Copeland with the medal.
I agree with you 100% Luthor. No articles anywhere in any of the Brisbane tabloids or on any of the TV stations. Wouldn't you think it would be top breaking news in Brisbane first before any other part of the country.Originally posted by luthor
Apart from this report in The Age, I can't find any other reference to the "Headland Quits" story anywhere.
It's not on the AFL website nor in the Lions section of that site.
Has anyone read any other report or heard any other news that verifies The Age story?
Maybe I'm clutching at straws but the report accredited to "John McGrath" does not contain any direct quotes from Headland, his manager, the Lions or Freo
Who is John McGrath?

I think, sadly that it's time to say he's gone. My favourite player is gone. Every time he touched the ball, we moved closer to the edge of our seat, an almost hiss of 'dessssiee' in the background as we watched him burst towards goal, and then an almost too big celebration as he kicked it through - like we were happy we stuck by him, happy we'd waited four years for this to happen, the realisation that our next generation superstar was for real. Now our dreams our crushed. So long dessie - it was all too brief.
