Some clubs are able to stay at the top and rebuild their football teams...Essendon the obvious example over the past 20 years, and Carlton as well up until that year that is.
Not so the Lions.
Give us another year or 2 at the top....then back to earth with a thud. And I am not just talking dropping a few places either...I mean bottom 4 status.
In the GF we had just a handful of players under the age 25.
Not many players play good football beyond the age of 28 these days, except for a few freaks (blessed with endurance such as Blakey, Bradley, Tuck) and Lynchy.
Lets just hope we can cash in again in 2003.....cost after that I am tipping a lengthy holiday at the bottom of the ladder.
