Memo to Match Committee:

Please, please don't replace Dessie with Schofield.

Give Peakey another go.

Or bring Roger in for his turn to show us that he still has it.

That's all.

Schofield. Hell No!

Peake doesn't deserve to be dropped. If Hayden is fit hes worth the punt, even McManus would be worth it since he has the heart and courage to lift in derbies.

BTW I heard he got tagged out of the WAFL game by his Perth opponent.

I feel a banner coming on "Not Schofield" would look classy at training on thursday.

I am not a fan of him either

lets not turn up.
We are going to lose, and sooner or later someone has to make a stand, against the softness of afl.

A banner is a bad idea. Hopefully the guy has the resolve over the preseason to pull his finger out and return to form. A back injury is a bugger to recover from. I wish him luck because he could be useful next year. I also hope he doesn't get a game this year though.

I'd like to see Hayden come in. Thornton should be dropped for Johnson. Thornton is too easily beat and is an excellent rebounder. The problem is that i'd prefer a 180cm Hayden rebounding than a 191cm Thornton. Leave the rebounding to the smalls and the defending to the talls. Johnson is a better defender than Thornton and Hayden a better rebounder.

If Connolly is leaving Gilmore out due to his poor man-on-man capabilities he should have a good look at Thornton's last few games.

The team against WCE.

F: Medhurst McPharlin Farmer
HF: Crowley Pavlich Schammer
C: M.Carr J.Carr Black
HB: Dodd Polak Walker
B: Hayden Johnson Parker
R: Sandilands Bell Hasleby

Int: Cook Mundy Longmuir Grover

Pretty solid looking team. Our defence doesn't have any gaping deficiencies. Midfield is absolutely jam packed with runners, as is the defence (Hayden, Walker, Dodd and M.Carr playing in the back 6). Hayden and Walker can rebound from defence and mop up when necessary.

Crowley Dodd and J.Carr to tag. Hasleby, Bell, Schammer, M.Carr and Black to be creative Midfielders. Pavlich and McPharlin to create headaches up forward with solid contributions from Farmer and Medhurst keeping Wirrapunda and Chick honest. Longmuir playing forward could cause problems.

In the last term when the game is there to be won. Longmuir or Johnson could be permanently placed in the forward line. Giving us 3 tall options in the forward line and stretching there defence.

For the love of all things good and pure, for the sake of everything that's good in life, for the reason to keep things sane and to give us a fighting chance DON'T PUT SCHOFIELD IN!!!

Hayden or Peake. I'd choose Hayden because he's had the experience and the fire in derbies before and he lifts to the occassion.

6 weeks ago we looked and were slow.

Peake came in. Schammer got some match fitness. That extra leg speed put us in the wiinners list. Walker comes we start to look even quicker. Bringing Schofield against the toast would be suicide.

As for Hayden, going on his previous games you would think he would be a walk up start. But he hasnt played AFL for 12 months. Can we risk it at this time of the year in a derby playing for a spot in the eight. No.

As kelly o'donnell said yesterday we can cover des pretty easy.
Murphy, Peake, Hayden, Gilmore.

For me i'd go Spud. He is a ready made HFF swapping with farmer would stretch the toast backline

Gilmore is a lefty and with Jcarr and blackie in we dont need a lefty who cant kick with his right foot.

Peake hasnt done anything wrong but imo he needs a few more kilo. I cant wait to see the name Peake playing in a derby, but not this week.

Its going to rain on friday.
Tall forward line might not be a huge advantage

It comes down to 3 players for me. Smith, Hayden & Peake are the only players who should be considered.

I'd bring in Peake to replace Headland. Whilst he doesn't have enough beef on him and can get knocked of the ball quiet easily, he's got oodles of pace and when in space runs like a hare.

If it does rain like some are suggesting, then maybe bring in Smith - BUT UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES DO WE PLAY SCHOFIELD.

I'd go with Hayden for sure. Give him a week before the Saints game. I think he'd be a great matchup on their small forwards, most likely Milne. A quick, small defender will be vital for the last three H and A games, and finals if they eventuate.

Gilmore for Dessie. They need him for the Saints clash and what better time to bring him back than against the eagles. Play him up forward.

Hayden played foprward for part of the game last weekend kicking 2 goals, and can obviously play back. Great flexibility. Fills the type of role Headland has, and keeps the pace in the team.

He has played half a doz games since returning so won't be too far off fully ready, and a game or two before the finals start would be a good investment in case the footy Gods smile on us and we squeak in.

Obviously Crowley deserves some more game time & should start in Hedland's place, perhaps even defensivley tagging Wirrapunda would be a good option & try nab a goal or 2.

If wet, McManus should play...his kicking won't be a problem as much in the wet...if dry, it would have to be The Magician Roger Hayden. Gilmore too soft for a derby, Peake not strong enough

Roger in for Headland, gives us lots flexibilty as he can play either forward or back. Will probably play back if Matera plays allowing Walker and or Schammer to play up the field.
Matchups are very important this week, I believe the following matchups will occur:
Dodd & Crowley on Judd
J Carr on Fletcher
M Carr on Cousins
Cook on Kerr
Hayden on Matera
Walker on Sampi
Parker on Lynch
Thornton on Seaby
Polak on Hansen

Selwood on Hasleby
Stenglein on Bell
Braun on Black
Hunter on Pavlich
Chick on Medhurst
Banfield on Farmer
Glass on MacPharlin

Both teams will play an extra defender behind the ball probably Mundy and Jones although the Eagles will try and free up Wirrapunda.
The rest of the players will rotate on and off the bench depending on matchups.

LET THE WAR BEGIN :D

Channel 10 just reported that Roger Hayden has been given the nod for Friday nights game. Whether that's right or not I have no idea. At least it isn't Macca or Schofield :)

ON a dry track maybe bomber in for DJ but it is going to be wet and hard . peake is too slight. Genius has speed but also a far more mature body.

I think the FFC have painted themselves into a corner with schofield.

AS for Two melee Dodd he adds to the mongrel factor
