Well we are there now... in 12th... bottom 4.
We got into the 4, just the wrong end of the ladder

Another wasted season

I grew up believing that the 3rd quarter was the "premiership" quarter.

I would be very surprised if we didn't have the worst 3rd quarter record in the league.

I didn't fall for the "top 4" bull ******** anyway. We were never going to be top 4 this year. Our detractors like to say that we are "top 4", so they can abuse us as underachievers when we don't get there.

Don't worry about the "break" and getting some players back. It doesn't matter as next week is "it" for us. A win doesn't guarantee a top 8 finish, but a loss almost certainly spells the end.

Polak and Dodd can take the blame for this loss. I'm sure our players would have liked some support in the backline against O'Loughlin, Hall, Davis etc.

Good to see Gilmore doing OK, and Schammer getting some ball.

If we played well today you havent seen us play this year. We where terrible but at the end of the day we didnt have the personal which is exactly what i have been thinking all day.

We are coming into our prime area of the draw. Rounds 13-19....at the start of the year i said we should win most of them.

Yep. I'll be there at Subi, looking for a do or die effort from the boys. Hell, I'll be at Subi long after the fat lady has sung. Just think that next week is our last chance.

We are no certainty next week against the roos. We have lost 8 out of 12 remember and unless we get some guys back this week i don't think we will win this week, if we do lose next week our season would be over for sure

What a load of crap, we were a bunch of deadset marshmallows again. We played soft, dumb football for 3 reasons.

The number of almost uncontested posessions by Sydney in the clinches was phenomenal. Whenever a Sydney player got the hard ball, we seemed to back off to allow them to take their kick, ensuring what should have been a 20m looper becomes a penetrating 50m bomb.

While we did have players that went in hard (eg. Cook, Schammer, Smith) we insisted on turning it over by handballing to no-one. Cookie did it religiously. He'd fight for the ball and win it, get put under pressure and instead of forcing the ball up, he'd simply turn it over by handballing it to space or a Swans player.

Our tackling was of a schoolgirl quality. Utterly pathetic.

As I have said before Gilmore>Dodd
Polak form has hardly been impressive, Johnson tried hard on Hall.

If you knew my posts Hoss, you'd know that I never troll. I'm sure some of your co-religionists who know me better will confirm that.

My point is that I think the Dockers have systemic coaching and player management issues and to blame the loss on Polak and Dodd is short sighted. But that's just my opinion.

No question that they would have been better for their inclusion but you can only play with the team you have out there and there were too many top ranked players today who failed to provide the leadership that was required.

And, IMO, this is not an isolated event - it seems to be happening with disconcerting regularity. Polak and Dodd aren't responsible for that.

Go figure.

Understatement, our tackling or lack of just showed that we werent having a real dip in the clinches. To many watchers and followers

i was saying the same thing a while back, however apparently he has similar problem to that of dodd and polak
When Carey said Pav should rough a few of them up he (carey) went up in my respect barometer.

Sandi showed today he becoming more of man.

Pav should grab Sandi and go on a two man mission.

This might be old news..... I heard last week woosha gave embly a bit of rough up when he looked like slipping too far.

Fact is with all this ' you cant do that'. Some guys respond to differently to others when someone lays it on the line.

We are going nowhere, how far have we come in these wasted 3 years, some hard decisions need to be made now regarding the coach, we have to pray that Pav,Shamm,Haze,Polly,Farmer,Meddy,Mundy etc,can see some hope for the future, could you blame them for jumping this sinking boat at the end of the season?

211 is a joke...the quicker you realise this the better. I reckon 80% of his ruck taps today went to opposition....if you were ensuing the hall v sandi incident...I reckon Hall was laughing at him..uncoordinated doughnut. Can't remeber him taking a mark today...every kick he got I laughed, could have gone anywhere. If we actually had a 3rd ruckman in our squad he wouldn't be getting a game.

He wasn't the worse though. Heath Black had 2 possesions to the start of the 4th quarter - pathetic. Josh Carr..on $400,000+? a year was terrible, Webster - another shocker, Grover - looked disinterested, Medhurst - laughable, Schofiled - no passion, Thornton - no brain...the rest did okay.

Next week...for me

IN: Headland, Dodd, Polak
OUT: Webster, Smith, Murphy (can't see the point in having him, if he doesn't get game time)

Yes our tackling is very ordinary at present. Opp players can either break free very easily or stand up in there tackle and with hands free dish off.

Re:211
A lot of what you say is true. Some of what you say is subjective and emotive.

Objectively... He is improving as tap ruckman. The fact that the taps are often sharked might not be his fault.
Recently on 720 liam discussed sandi with Mathew Burton. MB predicted sandi to become a great ruckman. (or something).

My opinion is sandi does often embarass himself and the team. That could have something to do with his visibility. From what I remember Burton was an object of ridicule as well.

Of course Hall was laughing at sandi. The fact that sandi even considered a face off means a quantum leap has occurred in his attitude and it is accelerating week by week. Which I see as an indicator he is maturing as footballer and a person.

He is probably 3 years away from being a gun and while we are looking for success now it seems a long way away.

As for playing him or not i am glad the decision is not mine.

Played like headless chooks - something is really wrong with the way this club is playing.

Get rid of Connolly. We are going nowhere.
