It might be too late for me, but I implore the mods to allow discussion on this subject on this board. Discussion everywhere should be encouraged. It is the price of democracy....and eternal vigilance of course.

Everywhere g79....everywhere. In my very strongly held view, there is no place that these discussions should not take place.

As previously outlined, people/posters can choose whether or not to participate but the avenue must exist...everywhere. Sure, it's hugely inconvenient for some when they see the thread at the top of the board ... no matter ... they're young ....I assume.

We have entered extremely perilous times. The wider the broadcast the better.

It's with some sadness that I depart but the point has to be made. It's a hill I will willingly die on at this point in history ..... and at my age.... although.....over the journey ... I have deduced that I am still somewhat younger than dogwatch ...ahhh, I couldn't help myself

I get it Mutt. However, exposure is what is required ... in my view. Not everyone is going to go to the main board. I, for example, never go.

Putting the house keeping aside for a moment (and I appreciate that it is arduous sometimes....often) it's a discussion that should not be syphoned off. People can exercise choice and free will to engage .... or not

There has been some extremely good analysis and insight amongst the vitriol in that thread ...not unlike every other thread that exists on this board.

TLDR . If there's a thread I wouldn't close at this time .... it's that one.

You’re entitled to your views and you’ve picked the right battle, but this is the wrong fight. I think cancelling your account over it would be an overreaction.

It was a bit of a dumpster fire at times, and most mods on the Bulldogs forum are only mods of this forum, not site ones. It wasn’t a Bulldogs-specific thread, so if it’s taking too much time away from all the nuffies in all of the other threads, it’s fair enough that it’s gone. If it’s treading or going over the line of the wider BF site rules, then big Chief would probably support the decision as well.

I also understand not wanting to go to the main board/other parts of the forum, I only really visit here, the soccer forum & Sweet FA forum. 3 forums out of the whole site and possibly a random venture somewhere else a few times a year.

But saying you don’t want to venture to the main politics board for these discussions is like buying a Ferrari and not wanting to take it to a Ferrari servicing centre because it’s too far away (it’s in the next suburb).

So don’t go NW, or at the very least wait until round 1 is over so that you can melt with the rest of us first.

No. Stalin was deemed unfit for service and spent much of the war doing what he was doing pre-war. Agitating for and positioning himself as a leader of the coming Bolshevik revolution.

Ol' Joe was a bit of a trouble maker.

Besides, it's impossible given there were many other fronts other than those seen in France and Belgium. The Russians fought exclusively on the Eastern front which was considerably larger but no less bloody than that in the west. Other than when the Russians mutinied resulting in the collapse of the front in 1917 the Eastern Front gets scant coverage in the west. Soon after many of the German troops were shifted west in one final futile push before the full force of the Americans arriving in theatre tipped the balance of power completely over to the allies.

Both Hitler and Churchill were on the Western Front at the same time. Churchill for 3 months and Hitler for its duration. Which in itself is a freakishly incredible amount of liuck. Its seems that although relatively speaking they were on the same frontline in the vicinity of Ypes. Its unlikely that they were ever on the same actual battlefield.

If you have any relatives who fought on the Western Front with the AIF, then they are more likely to have shared a battlefield and maybe even taken a few pot shots at Hitler during the war.

(One of my grandfathers was there in 1913 too, but as he died when I was 3, I never got to ask him if he crossed paths with any of those aforementioned "celebrities". Alas.)

Regardless of who you support politically, I think it’s great that people can share their knowledge. Yeah it’s not footy related but still worth the chat. Don’t think I’d been in the other thread for well over 3 months and didn’t even know it had gone. I like to poke the bear and stir shit to get a reaction and there are plenty of fish on here but if 5he mods see fit to remove it, then so be it
