Came home from work about a month ago in the middle of that relentless heatwave we were in the middle of. Sat down on the couch for a bit, got up, took a step to my left and saw a juvenile brown snake just outside my bedroom door, which was about 1.5m from where I was standing.

Apparently I’m quite cool under pressure because I muttered a quiet “no thanks”, put the dog in her crate and then, because I had nothing else to hand and didn’t want to lose sight of the thing, swept it out of the front door 😂🤷‍♀️

The thing that made me slightly sick to my stomach is that when I let the dog out of the crate afterwards, she ran straight to my bedroom and started poking around under my bedside table as if there was something there.

She had been inside all afternoon because of the heat! With the damn snake there. Bloody miracle she wasn’t bitten.

It must have found it’s way in to get some shade.

I came home from work one day, and thought it was strange our old dog didn’t come to greet the car like he normally does. Walking over to him, he didn’t move and I spotted a brown snake on the ground next to him, and our other dog, a Jack Russell running around. I grabbed her and went inside to warn my kids not to get off the school bus and cut through the paddocks, because there was a snake.

Further inspection we found the snake was dead, and so was our dog 😭, our family pet that had been with us for 15 years. The snake, a brown, had little teeth marks up and down its belly. What we think happened was Lily our Jack Russell had caught it and had been biting it, it was slowly dying and Bart our old dog, must have gone over to have a look and got bitten.

We also had a cat that was always bringing things into the house, including a young snake, little bats, and a baby possum clinging to her back that had all to be rescued and returned outside.

Goodness knows how many posters actually read this thread, but I’m just asking out of curiosity.

I’m heading over for Gather Round in 26 and had a thought - wondering if any Dogs board posters might have an airbnb in Adelaide? Would love to support a fellow Dogs board-ian by booking it for my stay.

A Demons fan, a Saints fan, a Bulldogs fan and a Cats fan are climbing a mountain while arguing with each other about who loves their team more. The Demons fan insists she is the most loyal. "This is for the Dees!" she yells as she jumps off the mountain. Not to be outdone, the Saints fan shouts, "This is for the Saints!" as he launches himself off the mountain. The Bulldogs fan is next to profess his love for his team. He yells, "This is for everyone" and pushes the Cats fan off the mountain.

Airbnb doesn't get to Adelaide for another decade

Yes. I’m not in favour of lifetime hatreds, punishments, except for the most heinous crimes. And no facetious comments about footy being more important than that 😉.

He was everything to us for what felt like forever. Recent player retention issues highlight how loyal he was over the course of his career and his gun best years. He was such a gun
I forgave Griff , round about the time the stadium were holding their breath 🏆😃
I only wish there was a world where Griff was in that team of Bullgods as well

Looks like the heat is being dialled up from 0 to about 1 on the two major ticketing companies. And even that is just over "dynamic pricing" in the music industry.

It needs to be dialled up to about 8, and not just on live music shows. It happens with sports events too. If you've ever been dudded, ripped off, denied decent service or generally treated with contempt by the ticketing companies (like, who hasn't?) you might like to dash off a quick email to your local federal MHR (lower house) and state senators demanding an ACCC enquiry into all aspects of ticketing. Apart from dynamic pricing there's the charming practice of only releasing crap seats for a while. And then lo-and-behold suddenly a whole new section of better seats become available once they've sold all the hard-to-sell seats.

The dynamic pricing is not set by the ticket agency, but by the event/game promoter.

The ticket agency obviously implements it, but only when told to

election promise only.

nothing will be done as AFL supports dynamic pricing and the AFL is very powerful.

That's interesting and probably makes sense too. Doesn't change the sentiment of course. Just broadens the target.

I absolutely love the lack of self-awareness of everybody involved with AFLMedia.

Here's how they always roll.

They start a fire.

They put out the fire.

They then pat themselves on the back for putting out said fire.

"Look how important we are to controlling the narrative. We speak, everyone jumps."

We all have those games we just can’t watch. We can’t get to the game (where it’s is often less stressful) and we are playing a mates team who is a real smart arse, or we live in a town or work with many people who barrack for the default club. We may have work the next day and go to bed too hyped up.
It was interesting to hear that the Pope gave up watching TV because he got too worked up watching Argentina lose to West Germany in the 1990 World Cup final. Just know it happens to the best of us😂

Pope Francis, reputably a soccer fanatic, is said not to have played as a boy/young man due to poor health. Pope John Paul II played as a goalkeeper at School and University. Now there's a real Pope.

My understanding of the AFL media is that they float an understanding that doesn’t require any revelations of source. That understanding is then accepted as fact and used as a basis for endless speculation and discussion until the understanding is understood to be invalid by which time there is a new understanding to be spun out.

And so it goes on ad nauseum.

🤔 Next year's fixturing will be interesting, particularly in respect of how many games we get at the G. We should absolutely play the Pies and Geelong there at any/every opportunity given the stars we have on our list at the moment. We'd pack the place out against the Pies and draw a huge crowd against Geelong.

I think a lot of neutrals would attend to see the likes of Bont, Boju and Darcy.

Bit of a dream I think, we can’t even get a home game at Marvel against the pampered cats.
