Clearly not worth a thread. Just a couple of fcrazy ideas

1. I noticed Lach and jj have gone for the johnno RWB mouthguard. I reckon it'd be really cool having everyone having wearing the same mouthguards and boots.

2. Helmets. I haven't played club footy for about 6 years (I'm 26) but played 18s and ressies and was KOd 3 or 4 times. It'd be cool for a one off game every dog wearing a helmet in tricolour to get more youngsters thinking about it a la mighty mouse.

Did notice Hunts' mouthguard after he kicked the goal. A nice touch. I like the guys that buy in, even in the little ways.

I'm pretty sure Hrovat wears one too.

Sorry. I've got something to add to my silly helmet point.

Considering there's so much high contact these days maybe we could rock something like this. McLean would be unstoppable

What's the best way to get 6 tickets for the game v Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval on the long weekend?

Are they only available as GA on TicketMaster Resale? And what does that mean, they'll be standing tickets? Or do you have to get there early with GA tickets to try and get a seat?

I realise that this is mostly tongue in cheek. But helmets don't really confer much protection against concussion. In fact there's some evidence that they can compound their effects.

The tongue is safely locked away cheekwise. I was kinda more making the point that if you can wear an arm cast or shinguard or helmet what's the rules/limit

Also if you have an iPhone wrapped in bubble wrap and dropped it would it be more likely to break than if not? That theory doesn't make sense

Unfortunately our brain is squishy and our skull is hard. A helmet doesn't stop the squishy part being smashed directly into the hard part. One of the worst concussions I've seen was sustained on a jumping castle.

I'm not a doctor but I think what you're referring to is nfl where blokes go head first and cannon into the opponent. I was a big skateboarder and at Kensington skatepark I fell straight back going up a halfpipe. My helmet saved me from a split skull.

I agree the impact is what causes concussion. Any g force causes that but wearing a helmet surely couldn't make it worse

Yeah it's great for stopping broken bones.
There's some evidence suggesting that stabilising the skull increases the concussive force but there's a pretty good argument that they tend to be worse because people think they're protected so they lead with their heads.

That's a bit different from my point that in a game of footy today blokes are doing the nfl headbutt anyway. I reckon it'd be beneficial for the constant whacks that wally and libba get around the scone. The benefit outweighs your argument. A piece of bubble wrap isn't gonna stop a massive impact. I reckon just for those landing heavily in marking contests or a whack in a stoppage there's no way it could be detrimental

He isn't arguing a point more so relaying his knowledge about studies that have shown helmets potentially increase risk. It is counter intuitive but nonetheless a valid issue. Google it if you get a chance. It's interesting reading and worthwhile especially for parents of kids that play afl.

From what i understand after speaking to a lady at my local outlet recently it is members that are not going offering their tickets for resale .

GA or Reserved. GA up top deck is normally ok if u rock up near bounce apparently. Bottom level fills quickly though, so get there an hour or more before gates open.

For anyone interested I have rated the Indigenous guernseys from best to worst. Here it is:

1. Hawthorn

Brilliant design. Experiments with some new colours which complement their standard colours very well. High level of detail in this one and a very original look which is distinctly indigenous in theme. This design bravely foregoes their trademark Hawk entirely but still stays loyal enough to their original colour pattern that is unmistakable who this guernsey belongs to.

2. Fremantle

This is just a beautiful design that uses the basic colour pattern with some variety in shading used to it's maximum potential. Subtle but striking.

3. Carlton

Another great use of colour here with some different blues creating a dramatic look. The design is very clever and distinctly indigenous in style.

4. Eagles

Another beautifully detailed design. Explores their colour theme masterfully.

5. Essendon

Doesn't stray too much from the simple sash design but the level of detail makes it intriguing.

6. Richmond

An interesting twist on the black sash however the design looks a little too simple and lacks detail.

7. Adelaide

The design looks quite good overall. It could have looked amazing with some more detail in the dot patterning.

8. Geelong

From a glance it looks okay however the pattern is far too repetitive and lacks imagination.

9. Brisbane

Okay design but far too safe. The deep colours look good but it stays to close to the design of the original guernsey. Bonus points for the clever incorporation of the boomerang.

10. Port Adelaide

The dot pattern looks quite good, however it is a little disappointed that they decided not to experiment with the V pattern. A little too lazy and uninspired

11. Sydney

The design looks okay but I didn't realise Pacman was indigenous?

12. Western Bulldogs

I appreciate the level of detail an effort in this one, however it just doesn't look aesthetically pleasing. The addition of new colours do not work in harmony at all with the standard colours. The background patterns don't look distinctly indigenous. The pointing figure on the front looks out of place and just unattractive visually.

13. North Melbourne

Up close it looks okay but I'm worried that the detail won't show up at all from afar.

14. Melbourne

Some nice line patterns and some boomerangs make it look alright and it does have an indigenous feel. The dramatic shading is also quite appealing. However I feel a dot pattern would have looked better here and a darker, more subtle red at the top.

15. GWS

An okay design for what is normally a very ugly guernsey with horrid colours. I would have liked to see them throw out the big ugly G entirely with this one. It's just in no way needed and it ruins the entire guernsey. Everyone already knows that it's the Giants if you are choosing to retain that ugly orange without the need for the G.

16. GC

Boring and shit.

17. Saint Kilda

Lol what? Really? What am I looking at right now?

18. Collingwood

Okay so you've added a magpie onto your geurnsey. Did you think it was bird round? No, it's indigenous round you idiots. Put some boomerangs and shit on there. Don't just put your ******* mascot on the front of your guernsey. Absolute disgrace and I hope you lose badly this weekend.
