Just back from the west coast of Ireland where I made a remarkable discovery.
Remember the old woollen footy jumpers they used to have before synthetics came in? (I used to get bad nipple rash from them)

Well ... I found the breed they got the wool from!

upload_2016-7-20_15-20-59.png

Maybe they still use them for those retro sweaters?

Why are the first few rows of Level 3 at Etihad always reserved seating now? Appears to be the way for the game this weekend against the Saints. Starting to piss me off. It use to be 2-3 bays on the bench side but now it's almost right around. Is this a club thing or just Etihad trying to make more money off us now we are 'cool'. Making it even harder for small kids to enjoy the footy

Saw one of the more cowardly efforts in the stands tonight. Saints fan giving it large to ladies leaving about 2 mins before the siren, being a belligerent idiot. A Dogs fan told him to pull up and he started shaping up from a few seats away. Scraggers jumped the seats and confronted him, bloke ran away while his mates tussled with the Scragger. Noticed the guy that started it hiding behind a few rows of seats filming it on his phone.

Anyway, that bloke has joined my list of opposition fans who I would be happy to hear were dead. Most of them are St Kilda, GWS and Norf posters on here.

Normally just on the Doug Hawkins wing the middle 3-4 aisles are, some bits and pieces around the ground too, nothing will be as bad as it was against Hawthorn though, so many level 3 areas were reserved for Hawks members or AFL members that day

My suggestion, get to the game 45 minutes early, walk up to level 3, look out at the ground on level 3 on those standing room areas underneath the scoreboards on the flanks and lookout for the red aisle seats

Red aisle seats are reserved areas, if you see an area on level 3 with no red aisle seats then you can sit there as general admission

Hope this helps in the future, I sit level 3 also as I'm only a GA member but generally the broadcast wing is the easiest area to find a seat without having to climb to row X like you would for Essendon home games

Thanks mate. All played out well. Aisle 14. Actually crowd was very poor until 7pm. Considering getting reserved seats next season, but will wait and see how it pans out with Ballarat and Cairns.

Yeah Saints fans were very poor, not many of them there, yet a lot of us went to their game against us, poor form.

Richard cranium (mike sheehan) just said he's going for the 'romance' of a gws vs hawthorn gf!!!! Romance! Ffs, an orchestrated gf by the afl. If that's his idea of romance I'd hate to be his wife/partner!

I'm not sure what's so romantic about an empty MCG.

Anyone want to sling me a few $ to help fund my next project?

Its a full page ad in the Herald Sun the day after the grand final asking everyone else "When is the last time your team won a ******* premiership?" It will feature Tom Boyd nude, dipping his nuts in a Premiership cup filled with the blood of a handful of Norf & St Kilda fans who we'll have massacred in the post GF riots/celebrations across Melbourne.

Round 21 1995

I was only in grade 2 at the time, but my Dad took me for the drive down the highway and we stood on the outer wing, sun in our faces and all

It was just days after the great man had passed away, we went to the Cattery and rolled Geelong in one of the better team performances of the year. After the Billy kick after the siren the previous year I hadn't seen Dad so happy after a win considering we also hadn't beaten them there since the late 70s before that game, a fact I find out years later.

Our backs are up against it this week, can the boys produce something special that we haven't seen down at the Cattery in 13 years?

Can only hope.......

Is it the one when Hargraves played a blinder for us?

Was solid, kicked 3 in the second half helped turn the game a bit as Grant lifted too late in the game.

That game was a Libba masterclass though he pushed us along, Westy, Cameron and Koster were excellent also.

We were fortunate GAS went off injured before HT and we got back into it once their forwardline lost a bit of potency and we had a bit if run and rebound from half back

I've just watched all four quarters (posted on YouTube a couple of months ago by FNWB). It's only twenty years ago but watching this made me feel like I was in a time warp. For no good reason, here are my observations:

- Weird seeing the Dogs have two talls in the forward line (Grgic and Hargreaves) plus a genuine swingman (Grant).
- Aside from West and Liberatore, no such thing as an inside-mid.
- Great watching Libba Sr towelling up Pickering in the first half.
- No such thing as rotations; Watts and Allen were hardly sighted in the first half. In fact, the use of the interchange bench was so infrequent that the commentators called every change like it was a big deal.
- We are super critical of today's commentators (refer Footy Fourth Estate) but I'd forgotten how bad Peter McKenna's calling was.
- Can't believe we beat that Geelong team with so many genuine C-graders running around in red, white and blue.
- Great game by some forgotten heroes; Koster and Quill among our best.
- Daryl Griffin - forgotten about this guy. We should have the Daryl Griffin award for players who have one good season and then fade away never to be heard of again.
- Some fantastic nostalgia: police horses accompanying the umpires off at half-time; ground announcer calling individual spectators to the ground manager's office; a playing position called "rover".

I was away interstate when this game took place and I had no recollection of it at all. Thanks for posting.

I was only a kid at the time but I really didn't understand the game until I was a teenager

I remember going to that game and I was excited as my two all time genuine footy idols in Ablett and Granty were running around on the same field, I probably didn't care who won that day I was just happy to see these guys play and kick goals, though I was happy that Dad was happy after the game.

Yeah footy was so different back then, open forwardlines, players playing set positions, you didn't see much of Libba or Westy inside 50 unless they were having a shot on goal and they wouldn't flood back to defend either, they'd just play between the arcs. How good was Libba that day, I only ever remember him as a tough tackling tagger but he had some genuine zip and agility that helped him get away from contests.

Seems like Wallace culled many kids over the years after that year and a few journeyman types, Griffin and Hargreaves were two of them, I guess Quill and Kellett were a few others. Much different strategy is list management these days, coaches wait longer on kids to develop and they don't cull good players after poor injury effected seasons anymore. More patience is required now.

I hope BTC becomes like our Grgic type, similar size, both can play forward though Grgic had better goalkicking numbers

I just checked out last two match results for each team(except collingwood, docker and essendon). I gave us a tick if we won both times, turned a previous loss into a win or a previous loss in to a loss by a smaller margin. The only two crosses we got were against Gws and st kilda.

If I get a chance or if other people are interested i could do it for other teams to see where we stack up.
