Some legends in this photo. And some very interesting hairstyles. About 1976, I reckon.
I think 1976 is right. How they didn't do better than 5th (11 W, 10 L, 1 D) is a mystery. Some serious talent in that side: Quinlan, Dempsey, Templeton, Featherby, Huppatz, Jennings, Dunstan, Whitten Jr, Wheeler. Maybe we just didn't have the right or coach or maybe the depth?

We gradually lost all the top end talent to other clubs (the first five I've named all went). By 1977 we'd slipped to 7th and then 11th in 1978. Didn't make the finals again until 1985.

Stevie Power, Rocky Stoneham, Laurie Sandilands, Ross Abbey, Ian Morrison, Denis Collins, Colin Dell ...

Templeton, Whitten, Stoneham, Jennings and Dunstan would have all been pretty young

B: Wheeler, Sandilands, Salmon
HB: Dell, Quinlan, Power
C: Collins, Featherby, Stoneham
HF: Whitten, Welsh, Dunstan
F: Jennings, Templeton, Morrison
R: Dempsey, Abbey, Huppatz

Spot on, Dogwatch. Administration of the club at that time was a dog's breakfast, there was infighting which caused even Sandilands to leave. I saw a few games that season as a young lad with my old man. Made the elimination final and just lost to Geelong. I vaguely remember listening to the last game on radio with my old man, needing to win or draw to make the finals. We ended up drawing.

So why are we playing home games in bloody Ballarat King?
Bendigo phone numbers start with 54 too :rainbow:

What time is the acknowledgement of the BF entourage?

What time is the acknowledgement of the BF entourage?
I believe it falls between here:
10:25pm Scott West Most Courageous Player presentation
11:00pm Gary Dempsey Medal presentation

They needed to ensure there was at least 30 mins assigned to the most important part of the night

Anyone know what the Locker Group Coaches Award is for? Saw a picture of Richards and Gowers sharing the award from the Sutton Medal Night

This will be interesting. Luke Darcy used to be a master of this

Ruck contests: prior opportunity

  • A ruckman who takes direct possession of the ball from a bounce, throw-up or boundary throw-in will no longer be regarded as having had prior opportunity

Indeed, you beat me to it by about a minute :). Didn't they change the rules largely because of his use of clean possession? He was the AFL MVP around early 2000s IIRC.

Think that Tim English is going to be a fan of this new rules development.

Yeah Darcy and Primus were the two most effective from memory.

Ant_, just a suggestion, can we get someone working on a new forum background? The current one is slightly out of date these days. As well as the "Proud sponsors of Josh Prudden, Mitch Honeychurch, Bailey Dale & Zaine Cordy. - The Footscray Football Club" tag line for the forum.

I'll put the feelers out to anyone who wants a crack at the the background on the site?

The sponsor tagline we can get chief to change, go with sponsors or should we use something else? Happy to put that out to everyone as well
