Can Richmond play Finals for the first time in 15 years?
During the 7 year period of the Richmond rebuild (2008-2014), the Tigers only won 46 games (out of 154) in what was an extremely tough time for the club. Despite the shocking record, the club stuck with the coach, OhhDeledio, and have put faith in him by offering up a two year contract after coming agonizingly short of a finals apperance, finishing 9th only a few percentage off the 8.

But the question is: Can Richmond finally play finals?

Team List:
Abel Dockum
- 72 Overall - Hard to believe he slipped to pick 51 in the 2014 rookie draft. Has improved immensley in the twos (going from 27 to 72 in one season) and will push for a spot in the 22. Is the brother of Crow Kyle Dockum who was originally drafted by Richmond with pick 8 in the 08 ND
Albert Proud - 77 Overall - Was picked up by us in last years trade period in a deal that saw Rickie Chappell go to the Bulldogs. Injured during the pre season and will miss a fair chunk of the season
Alistair De Lulio - 60 Overall - Pick 2 in the 2013 draft. Crafty small forward who knows where the goals are. Will also miss a fair chunk after injuring his left acl knee during the pre season
Alistair Dumont - 67 Overall - Another steal from the 2015 rookie draft, Dumont was selected with the 19th pick. Will also try to push for selection
Austin Wiley - 73 Overall - Pick 19 in the 2014 ND. Can play as a tough inside mid or on the HFF. Played 12 games last year and will look to build on that in 2016
Billie Wheeler - 48 Overall - Pick 49, 2015 ND. Speedy midfielder
Boyd Casartelli - 25 Overall - Pick 65, 2015 ND. Key position forward or back. Unlikley he will play
Brenton Cardwell - 27 Overall - Unlikley to play
Brett Deledio - 80 Overall - Star player who, before last season, had won the previous 7 club b&fs. Has been the heart and soul of this club for a while now. 2008 - 2013 was forced to play down back because the defense looked a shambles without him there. Recent recruitments has freed him up to play more up the ground.
Callan Dart - 24 Overall - Pick 65 in the 2015 Rookie Draft. KPF
Callum Aversa - 39 Overall - Pick 1 2015 RD.
Christian Cash - 62 Overall - Pick 1 2015 ND. Exciting small forward who will slot straight into the 22
Clayton Camp - 97 Overall - Pick 1 2011 ND. Took out his first b&f last year are finishing runner up 3 years straight to B.Deledio. Was used mostly on the HFF in 2015 but will look to push more in the midfield. Is a clearance machine
Derick Alessio - 76 Overall - Pick 2 2011 ND. Skilfull small forward who has impressed in his time at Richmond. Probably the first pick for the small forward role but needs to hit thee scoreboard more
Elijah Morrisson - 25 Overall - Pick 49 2015 RD. Half Forward
Elliot Tallach - 46 Overall - Pick 17 2015 RD. Midfielder
Fletcher Farley - 36 Overall - Pick 18 2013 RD. Yet to debut. Likened to Dale Morris, underseized but can still take the oppositionskey forward. Could play this year
Jack Riewoldt - 86 Overall - Had an interrupted 2015, only playing 7 games. Our Forward line really struggled when Jack was out. Hopeful for a big year from Jack
Jamie Crothers - 24 Overall - Yet to Debut, Probably wont see any action
Jaxon Sizemore - 94 Overall - Pick 2 2008 ND. Tall KPP who can play Forward or back. Has been thrown back after playing forward for the first 5 years of his career and has really emerged as one of the premium defenders in the comp.
John Shirt - 75 Overall - Pick 17 2015 ND. Well rounded milfielder who slipped past the first round to join the Tigers after being tipped as a potential top 10 pick
JoshP Kennedy - 83 Overall - Picked up Kennedy early on and has developed into a clearance machine. Missed the last half of 2015 through injury.
Lynn Embley - 32 Overall - Pick 67 2014 RD. Versatile player who can paly F,B or Centre
Lynn Prescott - 80 Overall - Pick 3 2014 ND. The 189cm, defender was thrown straight to Full Back in his first game. Had a bit of a hiccup where he missed 7 weeks with a leg but came back and held down FB extremley well for a first year player
Nathan Foley - 86 Overall - The VC has been a warrior for the club along with Deledio. One of the few who can hold his head high after 60+ floggings
Nigel Nash - 67 Overall - Pick 21 2010 RD. The tough inside mildfielder who has played 33 games in 5 years is one of a few who is under the pump to perform.
Paddy Dempsy - 64 Overall - Pick 72 2009 ND. Solid rebounding defender who has only missed 6 games in his 6 years a Tiger
Patrick Dnagerfield - 83 Overall - Was picked up from the crows early and has been a solid contributor for us. Was just edged out for the b&f by C.Camp last year bye 3 votes
Peter Boyd - 35 Overall - Pick 33 2011 RD. Another under the pump to perform. Inside mid or as a medium defender
Quincy Bessler - 46 Overall - Pick 67 2012 RD. Might only have a rating of 46 but is an important part of our back 6. A good reboundig defender
Ralph Halloway - 80 Overall - Pick 2 2009 ND. A great HFFlanker who is a long kick and rarley misses a goal. His best year came in his second season where he kicked 50 goals. Is an up and down player but is still an important part of our 22
Randy Codgell - 36 Overall - Pick 3 2013 RD. Is our number 1 ruckmen, standing at 208c, tall.
Rick Chaffey - 51 Overall - Pick 65 2011 RD. Only played 7 games in his 4 years at Tigerland. Has to perform
Ricky Dalgleish - 89 Overall - Pick 69 2010 ND. A small defender/wingmen who has no trouble finding the ball. Slipped to pick 69, is looking like a great steal for us
Rocky Storm - 52 Overall - Pick 8 2009 RD. The 172cm pocket rocket is yet another one who is under the pump. Has always been in and out of the side and hase never really cemented himself in the 22
Ronnie Ackerman - 24 Overall - Pick 33 2015 RD. Tall key forward unlikley to play in 2016
Rowan Fyfe - 54 Overall - Pick 33 2011 ND. Tall, strong midfielder/forward has also been a up and down player. His best is super but his worst is a train wreck.
Russel Bower - 67 Overall - Pick 51 2014 ND. Like Prescott, was thrown straight into the wolf pack debuting in Round 1 playing as the 3nd tall in the backline. Will hold his spot
Sam Alderton - 39 Overall - Pick 34 2013 RD. Played the last two games of last season becasue injuries/form to some of the forwards and did ok. May get a run sooner or later
Timmy Holliday - 74 Overall - Pick 3 2012 ND. Yet another top 10 draft pick, Holliday was mainly used on the HFF but can play midfield. Unlikley to see action this season because of a knee injury sustained in the pre season
Tony Fiddlar - 38 Overall - Pick 50 2013 RD - Was used as the second forward for most of the 2015 season but failed to have much of an impact. With Riewoldt back, its less likley he will play.
Trent Cotchin - 97 Overall - Star player. Dont really need to say much else
Will McTeague - 70 Overall - Pick 34 2013 ND. Can play as a medium defender or a medium forward. May struggle to keep his spot with the addition of A.Proud
Xavier Ellis - 86 Overall - Good solid backmen who has placed in the b&f in his two years at Richmond. Has taken over the Deledio 2008-2013 role and has freed him up to play in the middle

2016 H&A SEASON
ROUND 1: TIGERS V LIONS PREVIEW

The Tigers have been hyped up over the off season, many experts tipping them to finish top 8. The Lions on the other hand have been flying inder the radar, with no real expectations leading into Round 1. Can Richmond live up to the hype? Or will the Lions send them back down to Earth

Richmond Team:
FB: Dempsy - Prescott - Bower
B: A.Dockum - Sizemore - Ellis
C: Foley - JP.Kennedy - Camp
HF: Dangerfield - Halloway - Fyfe
FF: Cash - Riewoldt - Alessio
R:Codgell - Cotchin - Deledio
Inter: Shirt - Bessler - Wiley - Dalgleish

Key Match Ups:
Lynn Prescott vs Kym Joliffe
The last time these teams met, Jollife kicked 7 goals and Prescott got injured in the first few minutes. Prescott will be trying to prevent that from happening again.

Xavier Ellis vs Benny Belton
Richmond arent a big tagging team and perhaps thats the reason Belton runs rampant every time they play. X.Ellis can play a defensive role if asked and looks the most likely candidate

Player Watch:
Brett Deledio: The skipper will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing season last year. After falling short of a maiden finals appearance, expect Deledio to come out firing.

Christian Cash: When you are picked with the number 1 draft pick, expectations are quite high. Can Cash withstand the hype and pressure that comes with being the No 1 Pick?

Stars fire as Richmond fails to deliver

GOING into the game as warm favorites, the Tigers failed to deliver, wasting opportunity's and regularly turning the ball over going inside 50. But the battle was lost in the middle, with the Tigers getting smashed in clearances 22-37. Scott Dorsett starred for the Lions with 36 possesions and 8 clearances while Kennedy tried hard with 30 possesions

Tigers 12.9.81
Lions 16.11.107

Tigers goals: Wiley 2, Deledio 2, Fyfe 2, Riewoldt 2, Dalgleish, Camp, Dangerfield, Halloway
Lions goals: Joliffe 5, Belton 3, Dymock 2, Stanton, Marcil, Dorsett, Furman, Mills, Finney
Tigers best: Kennedy, Prescott, Dalgleish, Sizemore, Camp, Alessio
Lions best: Leuenberger, Belton, Dorsett, Joliffe, Stanton, Wppdroffe

The matchups:
Prescott v Joliffe
Winner: Joliffe
Dominated the game picking up 25 disposals and kicking 5. Prescott did pick up 27 himself and was good on the rebound but just lost alot of the one-on-one contests.

Ellis v Belton
Winner: Belton
Dominated from the word go, gathering 19 touches in the first half to set up his 32 disposals and 3 goals.

Player Watch:
Deledio: Only had 16 possesions had a bit more of an impact than what the stats suggest. Kicked 2 aswell. Rating 6/10. Not his worst game but it definitely wasn't his best. We expect more from the skipper

Cash: Couldn't hit the scoreboard but impressed with his 17 possesions. Rating 6/10. Solid start by the number 1 draft pick
