Glad your not our coach. Yze is a required player (Polack lazy and unpredictable) Fevola, lazy and unpredicatable, tarrant, Lazy and unpredictable. What a joke!
and Yze isn't lazy and unpredictable? He does alright as a small forward but when he plays on ******** opposition. He has kicked 4 goals twice and 5 goals twice.

he kicked 5 goals against Collingwood and Richmond and 4 goals against Essendon and Bulldogs (start of the year when they sucked)

Yze won't be traded because he does still have some value and is loved at Melbourne. I just hope that he can preform next year when full fit.

for Melbourne to go forward they need to trade one of their skillful outside midfielders for a tough inside nut. Last years trade period we lost one but gained one.

out of our four classy outside midfielders: Johnstone, Green, Yze and Bruce I have the period that one of them will be looked at trade wise, except for Johnstone

Johnstone is out of bounds
Bruce signed a new contract and is out of bounds
Green might be looked at
Yze might be looked at

I don't want to trade Yze or Green but there may be a deal that is too good to turn down.

Here is a short summary of where every player on the list is at:

Heffernan - Soft, lazy, useless. Delist immediately.

Armstrong - Finished at the MFC. Could do OK at another club.

Bizzell - Giving him a 3 year deal was a mistake. Won't be part of our best 22 in 2006. A shame because he was an absolute champ in the 02-04 period.

Holland - He was won me over. Has obvious limitations but tries his heart out and is worth keeping. Handy player.

McLean - Successful year, but did next to nothing after injury... which is understandable. Still only 19 and future leader.

Bate - Gun. Should play many senior games in 2006.

Miller - Like Dutchy he has limitations, but is a very important player at CHF. Needs to work on his kicking over the summer but should be VC for next year.

Nicho - Can stay on the list as backup.

Neitz - Nearly finished. 2006 maybe his last year in the AFL?

Ward - Go away.

PJ - Did nothing at AFL level this year but dominates for Sandy. Worth persisting with.

Sylvia - Future superstar, should become a key player in the midfield next year.

Yze - Very soft, skills going downhill. Needs to lift or he could be trade bait.

Dunn - Early days.

Smith - Doesn't look like making the grade. 2006 is his last chance.

TJ - Best player at the club. Awesome year and should continue to dominate next year.

CJ - Highly talented, like Bate he should play regular senior footy next year.

Green - A bit like Yze. Too soft for my liking but has incredible skills. He can stay.

Bell - Should be a good player if he can stay injury free. Best 22? Probably.

Moloney - Absolute gun. Will finish Top 5 in the B&F. Scott who? ;)

McDonald - Starting to fade. Still can play a role though.

Robertson - God.

Brown - Not a fan of his at all. Gets a lot of the ball but usually turns it over. ND loves him though, so he shouldn't be worried.

Williams - Go away.

Rivers - 2005 was a year to forget, but he'll slot straight into CHB in 06.

Read - Angry bastard, worth keeping for backup.

Newton - Early days.

Godfrey - Delist immediately.

Wheatley - Solid year. No major issues.

Bruce - Not as good as he thinks he is. Overrated and lazy. A longshot but possible trade bait?

Hunter - Gone!

White - Not a great year but very important to the side. He turns 29 next year. Yikes!

Ferguson - Couragous and versatile. Sign him up for another few years yet!

Davey - Doesn't look like being a 1-2 year wonder. Important to our forward line. Like Brown, ND loves him.

Warnock - Not much chop.

van Shaik - Not much chop.

Jamar - Bit of a dud, but is good at VFL level and is worth keeping for next year at least.

Carroll - WTF? Went from superdud to gun in the space of 12 months! At this stage he'd be our starting full back for next year.

Rigoni - Probably should retire.

Motlop - Last few weeks have been good. Should be retained.

Whelan - No major issues. Solid year again.

Have to disagree, thought Rigoni did well with minimal chances, we'll be delisting enough players not to have players retiring unneccesarily. Will be a good mentor to the likes of Bate, Dunn, Newton etc. Just left the other three there cause they're guns.

could Yze and our first pick be worth someone of the likes of Fevola, Bartel, Tarrant or to a lesser extent, Polak?
If Tarrant ever pulls on an MFC jumper then I'm finished. Memberships on the fire, jumpers in storage and hello VPL soccer season.

SS, very good review of the list. Some comments on it:

I am not a big fan of Gus, but I agree with MM in saying he should be retained. He is a veteran of sorts, and we lack a few of those. Can still find the footy, but isn't in our best 22. But he's decent enough as a back up.

Agree with Rivo slotting back in.

Agree with all the delistings, and think that Nick Smith will get another season, especially in light of the fact Neitz seems to have lost it.

Also, what does everyone think of Chris Johnson? Can he be a regular next year or not? I can never get to Sandy games from Geelong, but from what I have been on TV, he looks like a real player.

Oh...... and Sylvia WILL be a gun! ;)

he has lots of poise and a beautiful left foot kick. is able to kick goals on the run from 40+.

will slot nicely into a wing or half forward but unfortuantly, lacks bulk which is what we need in the middle.

Rigoni will be retained but hopefully the likes of Sylvia and CJ take his spot in the middle

Try Green and a 1st rounder, and even then it wouldn't be enough. Plus Jimmy is holding Geelong at ransom for more $$$, which we probably don't have, although offloading Green would help in that regard.

Nice thought, but highly unlikely.
We just signed Green to another few years. I dont wan't another Woewodin where we still have to pay him three years after he's left us

could we have a crack at Bartel? loves the hard stuff and gets plenty of the ball. 30 possies today and 11 marks.

Green + 2nd pick - Bartel?
No thanks. We don't want that frontrunning pony.

Bruce has too much potential to be offloaded after a couple of quiet games and he has been injured.

Hardness is a part of his game that he needs to develope. He doesn't have to be a Mark Riccuito, Nathan Buckley type midfielder but he needs courage, along with a bit of bulk. James Hird would be the perfect player for him to model himself on.

Green on the other hand, well i just don't see as much improovment left in him.

dont think about trading bruce yet... just think back to round 3. 3 BOGs and brownlow favourite. yes it was only round 3 but this man showed his potential of tagging and taking a game and blowing it apart. Has had bad injuries this year, let him have pre-season and he'll be back to his best next year.

I'd part with Bruce and a 1st rounder for him, although Bartel may opt to leave if he keeps asking for so much, so you might have to take what you can get.
Wouldn't bother. Bruce has talent. My guess is we have most of the right players, just the coach is stale, his methods stale and we need someone new to fire up the players. 8 years - nothing as far as I am concerned. Forget player lists and think new football department.

Agreed on the Hird bit. Bruce has enormous potential and talent but he will be 27 next year and needs to really start playing some good footy while he is in his prime. Hopefully he gets a bit of guts and determination and we have a superstar on our hands.
I would not want to trade anyone if McLean and Sylvia could stand up in the midfield as inside players (Although Col can play outside as well) with a bit of help from Junior and Beamer who can get the hard ball and his toughness and strength is a good asset.
He’s an interesting player Beamer is, because he seems to be a winger but not many wingers have his body strength or mongrel and he can get the pill and barge through a few opposition players.
So if we can get someone to stand up and get in and under in our midfield we should be OK next year, but keep an eye on a ruck replacement and a FF replacement. Hopefully Jamar or PJ can have a good year.
BTW we won’t get Fevola so don’t put him in your sides. I don’t want him anyway. Is too unpredictable and a richer club such as Collingwood will get him if he goes.
