Tough, intense and with the Hawks down and out before fighting back against all odds.

And to think - 10 goals being enough to win both finals.

um, think not.

a certain essendon v north game was easily the best game of the year. even the following week, north v lions was a ripper.

A very exciting last qtr. As soon as John Barker took that mark on the boundary line i knew a goal was coming up - does he ever miss from there? Hawthorn certainly earned that victory, and Port - well i think they played like a team that thought they had the game won in the last qtr. Brisbane are a certainty for the GF, but the Essendon-Hawthorn game could be a pearler....

Low scoring games rarely do much for me, but this was an exception!

Wouldn't rate it as highly as CJH has though. Must be all those Tiger yawn fests he's endured this year, giving him a greater appreciation for better-than-ordinary games. ;)

while tonight may have been a great game, richmond are the masters of "winning ugly". twice against carlton and recently against collingwood, and that's just for starters.

and this bleeding heart sook about respect - two finals appearances since 82 - i don't see why they should be respected.

we showed u respect last week

and the lions will show u respect next week

and you can all watch the grand final from the sidelines happy that u have been given some respect.

um, think not. How boring was that game? Who wants to see sides dominating each other? not me.
Give me a good close hard fought game anytime.

Port have been involved in a lot of the good games of season 2001. Port V Collingwood was a ripper!!!!!!

Re: Re: Re: Now THAT was the game of the season...

The margin was only 16 points at three quarter time...Hawthorn were kicking witht he scoring end in the last quarter...they were never "down and out". Yeah we got 9 points up with about 8 minutes left, but rememebr Hawthorn kicked a goal 30 seconds after that. You could tell they were always going to get up...whenever we kicked a goal they would get one back straight away.

It's interesting you say that Ripp.

The best game I have ever seen was the 1994 State of Origin contest between Victoria and South Australia at Football Park. South Australia won by 2 points, but the skill level was simply amazing.

Only 20 goals were scored in the entire match. Sometimes lower scoring games are more intense, because there is more riding on each goal. That particular match at Football Park7 years ago, was one such match. Not only was it played with great skill, but it was played to an incredible intensity and with great spirit between the teams too.

It was football at its best.

Piss off Red & Black

Red & Black us Tiger fans really couldn't give a sh#t what an Essendon supporter thinks.

I'd rather win ugly than lose pretty any day.

You're a typical arrogant Essendon supporter. Seem to be quite a few these days.

Anyway hope the Hawks bury you arrogant **** next Saturday. Without your pretty boy "Swan Dive" Lloyd.

Funny how a bandwagon blow in knows so much about the what the "typical Essendon" supporter on these boards is like.

How's it feel knowing you couldn't beat a team of **** missy?

Bit like '96 then eh? I'm sure you'd have been quite happy to choke like that rather than finish ninth.

the 96 season ended soon as northey took the money and ran to brisbane at the end of 95.those players played for northey only to see him go after the money would have even affected a club like essendon.
cheers!
