LMAO i'm reading all these articals about how much we have improved and how our statistics are at the top in the league, WTF!!!!

4 weeks ago they had wriiten us off completly, I'd still be happy with no wooden spoon, i think they should give it to west coast no matter what.

And to those guys talking about tanking, **** off, we are trying to drive a mentality and I'm pretty damn sure tanking isn't going to improve on that.

What I hate is, the media bring up all these stats about how Richmond are as bad or worse than Fitzroy were back in the dark days.
Now that we've strung a few together, the same media is now stating that 'the average football fan 6 weeks ago were comparing Richmond to Fitzroy'.

They wipe their hands of it very quickly.

Mike Sheahan was the biggest tosser of all. Dug the boots in at every opportunity but just goes to show you one thing. The guy has never played the game and really can't analyse what the club is doing.

The majority of the media have have no real insight and don't really care to thoroughly analyse anyone but the top sides, their favourite teams and their players , preferring instead ride the waves of fashionable opinion that they manufacture themselves half the time, perpetuating myths so they can lazily fall back on them instead of doing any real research or work and instigating beat-ups....a bunch of shallow, reactionary wankers and glorified gossip columnists ..

Ohhhh this is different to the last 5 rebuilds havnt heard that either ... different would be finally injecting some really good talent in the side via the draft and not winning meaningless games! I want to win as much as anyone but we also need to consider this is a tainted draft as will the next! Dont stuff this up again Richmond I cannot go through this sh1t again

Perfect time to give some of the untried kids a go, With a few games that we would not be favourites in, If we go down we would see the usual 3-4 changes. Gourdis Post and Webberley would be great ins and should be giving a good run.

YES!! finally some sense we dont have to waste the year lets just try the kids and play them at all costs to see if they are any good the wins will look after themselves

So fast forward to round 22 and we are playing Port to see who finishes 16th.
Who wants to win the game?
Seriously.

I dont see the same negative agenda towards Richmond that others do.

If we are not performing then there are few on field positives to talk about and the negatives are the only things that will keep us in the papers.

If we ever rise up the ladder they will sell the shit out of it. I always thought Channel 7 pumps us up when we are worth being pumped up.

Guys like Parko and BT just playing devils advocate to lame ex players who have just joined the media on good money to just call every young player a future champion.

Seeing as we're talking hypotheticals...

Well lets assume that Dustin Martin wants to 'win the game', as I assume he does every week.

And lets say, come 3 quarter time, we're down by a goal and Dusty has 10 clearances to that point, in a near BoG performance. Then the coach tells Dusty to start on the bench, and when the final siren blows and we lose by a single figure margin, with Dusty still sitting on the bench, he walks off the ground totally disillusioned.

Then come the off season, and we are trying to negotiate a new contract with Dustin Martin, to tie him up for 2012 and beyond, but we get the cold shoulder. And before we know it, he is holding talks with K. Sheedy and GWS.

All for pick 4 in a compromised draft.

EDIT:
Anyone else see the interview of Brett Ratten on Ch ONE last night? How embarassing. I just hope that Carlton sack Ratten one day in a bitter departing, and I'll be waiting for the Ratten autobiography to come out like nothing else ;)

now that is tanking and exactly what us pro tankers are on about.
the season is shot play as many kids as possible play them in different positions lets see what they have to offer.
tambling is one who has supposedly had injury all yr send him of for an early break or operation or whatever. dont rush foley back give him the extra time those who need ops can go early give cuz a break play morton midfield etc etc its the ideal time to do these sorts of things.

to be honest i would prefer the media bagging us that way at least expectations are not raised prematurely.

its really unbelievable 3 wins and lets be honest they have been against some very ordinary sides and all of a sudden we have the players we need to take us to sustained success. its as if the first part of the yr didnt happen.
yet people come on here and claim we dont need early picks or dont need the best possible chance of gaining another martin or cotchin but in the same breath think we are in for another low finish next yr . where did we finish again that enabled us to snare the quality of martin cotchin deledio.

we are coming off a spoon yes we all know melb would have finished above us if they were dumb enough to win a couple of games. and we are heading for another spoon have few quality players and lack depth in almost every position except small forward or small back.
ffs last yr we had the exact same debate from the precious deluded fools. we have had the denate since wallace arrived. every yr its the same foolish arguments and the following yr the same thing happens.

its simple CATTLE FIRST YEP CATTLE BLOODY FIRST. get enough quality into yr system get enough of the right players then take the que out of the rack.
who here really believes we have a list or are even close to having the list to take us to a regular top 4 berth.
who here is willing to forgo a crack at another martin or deledio aand for that matter a ryan bastinac because when it comes down to it thats what people are asking just so they can say hey we beat port or hey we beat wce by 50 points.

COMPLETELY DISAGREE!!!!!

Posts like these miss the point entirely. We are trying to impart a new game plan on the team. The perfection of this game plan is PARAMOUNT! If we play all of our kids, how can the team learn to GEL? It has taken till the last four games to have the team start to feel comfortable with the Dimma game plan. They still have not perfected it. They, in fact, have still a long way to go before they do that. So why do people want to break the team up and go back to square one? These boys need to play together as much as possible. This is far more important than tanking. Winning meaningless games THIS TIME will instil more and more confidence in guys like Martin, Cotchin and Deledio and that as much as anything will make them think that the team is going somewhere and then are far less likely to jump ship when they are given an opportunity. You obviously haven't played competitive sport if you think that these guys would prefer to lose. Just imagine if we lost all our remaining games by big margins. Martin will start thinking that he is in the wrong place, a place buried with a losing mentality. He is FAR more likely then to accept an offer from GWS!
In the past we won a few games at the end of the season because Richo had a day out. That used to make us happy but that sort of day out would never lead to future success. A one man team never goes anywhere. It usually meant that we finished ninth. Yes that was meaningless. The difference now is that winning by a collective team effort from our young guns like Riewoldt, Martin, Cotchin, Nason, Edwards, Collins, Connors etc. will give the team a total belief in Dimma's game plan and set a launch pad for 2011 and beyond! If you cannot tell that winning the way we are now is so different to the past, you know nothing about football.....
