Wish doncaster good luck, but having them leapfrog those clubs in a ladder prediction is crazy. Donvale got absolutely spanked their first year post recess. I expect a transition year while they sort themselves out. But anything can happen of course.
Agree div 4 will be strange in premier not long ago from what ive seen will be competitive 1st night knew 5 players .will take a while to gel but once they do will be interesting. Personally want a happy club again enjoy some wins and get back to the good times

Spoke to a bloke at a Premier club yesterday, they were slightly bemused by two of their players (one not long out of VFL) being offered $5k sign-on and $1600/week at Doncaster.

Pretty rich for D4 footy (they knocked it back).
Any confirmation of Doncaster points? Surely the clubs they’ve pillaged would be up in arms?

Appears a lot from higher divisions possibly kids who weren’t getting regular games, I guess this is what 4th division is genuinely intended for kids who perhaps aren’t up to division 1 level but get to stay involved in the game and play at a lower level, hard to complain about that isn’t it??
You try have a lot each way here don’t change clubs, but don’t fold, but numbers are low, hard to fill teams people going to a standard that suits them is better than them quitting the game is it not?
The entire under 19 competition would run much better with open grading. Teams at the bottom of each division are pretty much getting belted 18 times

Leader footy rumours

This one sounds like South Belgrave

EX-SAINTS ON THE MARCH?

Some say it’s true, others call it bulldust. Whispers have been circling the Eastern league recently of former St Kilda pair Jack Billings and Jack Lonie linking up with a Premier Division club for 2026. It would be an almighty boost to the club in question, which already boasts its share of ex-state and AFL talent on its list. Lonie was best afield with four goals in Cheltenham’s Southern league Division 1 grand final upset this year, while Billings is fresh out of the big-time, recently delisted by Melbourne after 172 AFL matches.

These clubs are Moe and Doncaster East. Player mentioned is Kai Owens.

A FEW ARE ANGRY

It’s fair to say the recruiting activities of a certain country club have rivals fuming.

The way they see it, the club was already doing remarkably well to stay within the salary cap this year and in the past few weeks has added a number of quality recruits.

Rumours are the oxygen of the football off-season and in this case the talk is of $20,000 sign-ons and healthy match payments.

One VFL player was apparently offered big upfront money as part of a $50,000 package.

“They’re taking the piss,’’ is how one official from a rival club described the situation.

Frustrated clubs have made calls to the league, demanding it bring in an AFL investigator to look over the books and, if necessary, have players sign stat decs.

Otherwise, they say, the competition will be severely compromised next year.

There’s a similar scenario in a metro league, with one club, already boasting a number of former AFL players, making a number of high-profile signings.

Clubs who chased one particular player say he’ll be on $40,000 next year.

I read this, assume Mitcham are hosting them, maybe a bag check on entry at the entry gate!
It is hilarious when clubs act all tough/high and mighty on socials though. it's probably a 70kg dripping wet two's player typing the message.

Nuna/FH in at this stage.
Nuna really coming back? They’ve posted 9 signings. Can’t even give their full names, I’m assuming so people can’t see their playing history

Clubs should voice their disapproval at any team attempting to play a second reserves team.
Look it isn’t ideal however if Berwick have the numbers (and these blokes wouldn’t play anywhere else) then it’s probably a winner especially for games where nuna are the visitor - would assume this means a full book of games on the day. Bigger pain in arse of course if a 2s team has to traipse out to Berwick…

IMO ultimately it can’t do anything good. Would blokes rather play in the 2nd reserves sides for power house premier clubs or D4 normal ressies?

I think if this becomes the norm big clubs will eventually lure regular bottom division reserves players leaving even more of a player shortage.

SFNL have open grade where clubs that can’t field two teams (Nuna) or those that field three teams (Berwick) play.

Fairly sure it’s limited to one team per club though, you don’t have this bullshit like the ammos where clubs have four teams in the clubbies (open).

The SFNL is a bit of a different beast however, a lot of clubs don’t have U19s because the region is pretty much head to head with school footy and VAFA. So the Saturday morning thirds comp works. They also have a Friday night comp.

They take MPFNL clubs too so I’d be surprised if some EFNL clubs couldn’t enter. Berwick and Beaconsfield could for sure, Oakleigh District, Mulgrave, Rowville.

If I’m Berwick that would be my first port of call as I imagine it’d allow home games… whereas you would think in this D4 setup means they’ll have to follow Nunawading around.

Surely not …Back where? Wandin? Vermont ? Kilsyth ? Powelltown ? Corio? Rye? Dingley ? Mt Eliza ? Donny East?
Looks like hes been cleared to powelltown. You would think on big money. Hes not going to go and get flogged for nothing. Not sure who is going to kick it to him.

Sorry guys but you are well off the mark. He and his fellow mercenary mate Moreland have signed with Balranald in the Central Murray League. Won’t be at Powelltown.
