I think the weekend showed that there are probably only 2 genuine contenders for the title this year, and they played each other on Friday night.

What's the world coming to when you can't bet on Melbourne, in Melbourne, against the team running last in the comp?

Titans have won 3 of the last 4 against Manly, and they're at home.

Titans have been so average, on paper it's a Manly win, but I'll stay away.

One game means nothing.

Are you referring to the Dragons/Bulldogs game, or the Melbourne game?

Either way, Dragons/Bulldogs was a hard fought battle, could really have gone either way. St George are definitely the best side in the comp, and the Bulldogs were close to rolling them. Definite contenders.

If you're referring to Melbourne, that's the 2nd time in 4 weeks they've been beaten at home, by a team they should really beat. 4 points at the end of the season means everything.

Nah I was talking about the Storm. Broncos too, although you didn't mention them. In their current position, both teams can afford a couple of bad games and they should still cruise into the finals and likely make the top 4 depending how they go during the origin period (haven't looked at the draw for either team)

Everyone has been saying for a long time now that it's been Dragons, followed by Storm/Broncos and then the Bulldogs equal/just behind those teams. From memory Bulldogs have lost to those 3 which could be a problem come finals time, but there is a lot of time between now and then to change things.

Definitely a long time to go.

I gave Brisbane no chance at the start of the season, and they have surprised me a bit, but I think the origin period will smash them, especially if they lose one of their stars. Still think Canterbury have a better chance over the length of the season, if they can work out how to score points (hint: give more ball to Barba).

Melbourne I actually had money on for the premiership when they were paying 17's or something silly like that, so they're doing my head in, with these poor home performances.

I've all but given up betting on the NRL, there's more money to be made on the AFL :)

My thoughts exactly Rooster! I've really struggled to gain any touch so far in the NRL. Had a horendous start and haven't been able to recover. I am still persisting though :) But agree the AFL is turning into a nice money maker again this year:thumbsu: Goodluck with the Storm! I still think thats a very nice bet!

MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL
ML - TITANS (x1.5)

Rolling with the Gold Coast here in Monday Night Football! More of a gut instinct than anything. The Titans are up against it this season after a terrible start. They are playing well below the standard's we all expect. They are at home and have actually won 3 of the last 4 against Manly. The Titans have received a boost with Bailey back this week and Mino gets back in the starting line up which looks alot better. Also much prefer G.Bird in the Back Row, he adds that go forward and unpredictability that could spark this team. He has great ball playing ability and also takes on the line. He will be up for a big one tonight after being named for the Blues yesterday!

Manly have been dealt a blow with B.Stewart ruled out. While they are in good form the Sea Eagles this game is a huge danger! Travelling up North I think they may find this one tough. The Titans can score plenty of points and I think they steal this one! Titans win outright!

ATS - BULLDOGS -5.5 (x1.5)

The Bulldogs will be to strong for the injury hit Raiders here tonight! Canberra while coming off a huge upset win against the Storm in Melbourne, will have to field a very inexperienced side and are missing players in vital spots with Duggan missing with origin duties at fullback and Orford, Shillington, Leroy-Lars and of course Campo all out with injury. The dogs surprisingly have almost a full strength side ready to run out tonight with Ennis the only missing. The Dogs have far to much fire power with Barba, Idris, and Morris. Also an inform forward back lead by Tolman and Pritchard to set the standard for the night. Their new halves are gelling well and will carve up Canberra tonight! Huge letdown spot for the Raiders, this one could get ugly!
