NRL NRL 2025 - Finals Week 1

So proud of the Sharks tonight. All heart. The halves played well.

The Roosters are just so error-laden, thank god.

Dumb football. Probably sent 3-4 kicks max to Tupou and Nawaqanitawase. Made no sense. Yet another example of not playing the sort of footy that is proven to win finals - and it was proven to be winning the game as we were getting on top: we were dominating territory, we were getting kicks in general play to good spots, but when we had proper attacking sets we finished them terribly

Special shout out to Angus Crichton who finished the season as he spent a lot of it: standing idly while an opponent crashed through our line and watched. He might not have been able to stop Toby Rudolf, I don’t know. But he was right next to the Tedesco/Collins ruck that was trying to stop him, and made no effort to get across and help.

F**k him off.

How long does Robbo continue to get?

Not being a c**k but is that a serious question after this year?
We lost 7 of our best 17 over the off season plus had Walker missing until round 16, started 1-4 and made the finals.

I get that people will instantly go ‘oh well he’s got all this talent at his disposal’ but hell, Toia wasn’t an origin player when he debuted in round 1. Nawaqanitawase although obviously a physical freak, wasn’t a league player at all when he joined the club and is obviously doing better than anyone thought. Savala still has some work to do but has come on in leaps and bounds. Whyte has made the jump from handy to a genuinely dominant forward. Wong has become a really good quality player either starting or off the bench. Radley actually added some discipline to his game. Watson, Ioelu have a good dummy-half/lock rotation off the bench (though I’m not sure how that will work when Robson arrives).

This is genuinely his best coaching effort in 4-5 years.

The only thing he needs to sort out is some of the basic stuff that you would never see a Bellamy tolerate. Ie. there is no way on earth Bellamy would put up with the continual lack of respect for the ball that we show week after week. If you are going to throw it around, you will drop the ball: that’s a given. I can cop that. But we drop it in tackles. We drop it playing the ball. We drop it passing to the first receiver. We are a mini-league team at times.

He needs to drop Angus Crichton. I don’t give a shit what anyone says. He needs to start holding players accountable. He speared Terrell May from the entire club because he was a bit left of centre. And that’s okay maybe he was a bit different. It was certainly the right call with Smith. But Crichton is lazy, ill-disciplined, and gets by on reputation. Robinson needs to stop playing favourites.

If he does that, with the natural improvement most of these guys have got, I don’t so why we wouldn’t be in the top 4 next year

Match fixing ?

I thought they were pretty gallant last night. Sexton showed he belongs still and they were the walking wounded in the second half.

The pettiness in me just wanted them to lose because of Galvin.

If Penrith didn’t throw the game against the Dogs they wouldn’t have finished 3rd.

Which would have in turn relied on the Broncos still beating the Storm in a game that actually would have meant something.

Take the hat off.

What difference does it make anyway if they go out in straight sets from 3rd or 4th? If it happens who gives a shit

Well it’d make a difference to the Sharks who’d have the easy semi final next week.

Plus the Donkeys game did mean something to them last week, lose and they could have finished as low as 6th. But it still would have meant nothing to the Storm.

Yeah it meant something to them but if the Dogs weren’t secure in third it would have meant something to the Storm too. They could have had a say in who they played this week, beaten the Broncos, and ensured they played the Bulldogs anyway or even Cronulla depending on for and against as theirs were relatively tight.

Regardless who cares. The Dogs will bounce out next week more than likely so who gives a shit

Yes we know you don’t care because you support a shit club and your support of the Dogs being gifted 2 points means you can’t back down, even though it cost your own club this week, hilarious.

I’m sure they’d have been better off playing the Dogs than the far superior Sharks.

But well done to the Roosters, first team in history to ever lose to Fitzys mob in a final at Shark Park!!!

How did it cost my club? We would have lost playing anyone this week. I don’t blame people when my team loses mate. You do. You’re a halfwit spineless excuse maker who tries to lay blame for everything that happens that you don’t like on the feet of the people you don’t support.

I know my team played like utter shit and put KY Jelly on their hands before they played tonight and the opposition played better.

We wouldn’t have beaten the Dogs playing how we did tonight. We wouldn’t have beaten the Warriors or Panthers either.

Maybe I do support a shit club. But hey, I don’t even know who the f**k you support because you do such a shit job of showing it. All you do is rag on other people’s an blame the NrL global conspiracy for any result you don’t like as though you’re a basement living 70 year old cooker who thinks the government is putting arsenic in the water supply you docile old flog.

I’ve spent most of the night talking about the preliminary final in the afl, if you actually read my posting history. What is it you’re failing to understand here? I’ve just told you we didn’t deserve to win - I’m not sure what your misfiring brain is failing to grasp but I can’t double-accept my team losing, Edward. You lose and you move on or you win and you wait for the next match. Once you accept the former, you can’t re-accept it. A week ago we weren’t even guaranteed to make the finals and before the Melbourne game we weren’t likely to make them so getting there is something of a bonus.

Did I want to win? They’re the team I support so - shock horror - yes, I wanted them to win. But we didn’t, nor should we have: we played like a Group 10 reserve grade side waiting for mad Monday for most of it. So big deal. I will hitch my wagon to Penrith, my partner’s team, and hope they win, and that I get a root out of it.

Six again rule is a bit of a farce.
More farcical than 50m in AFL.
Has too much impact on the result.

Lol, sound like the SEN commentary team who are apparently running Donkey radio who have now decided you should not be allowed to get a six again on the last tackle…
