I reckon NRL lost a chance of getting more melbourne Fans but after the Umpring display people wouldn't watch a corrupt sport like NRL!

The refereeing was poor, but we didn't lose the game because of it ...

We lost to the better team purely and simply, i'm just sick of people whinging about it and making it worse ...

Storm were better than broncos. Ump made sure that it looked like the Broncos were better!

Man, two points.

i) Storm didn't lose it in the First half, their game plan was executed nearly perfectly, their plan was to outlast the Bronco's, by rushing at the end, Matt Johns picked it. The Bronco's picked it by cutting out Inglis all game, and Cronk.. who was invisibile after 20 minutes... his failure to do anything should cost him his Australian spot.

ii) Storm had no plan "B"... Bellamy for all his excellence had no way of organising his team to offer something different, even though Scott Hill could of run a show. This hows real finals inexperience... the Storm should be better for it next year. If you're from Melbourne, and you couldn't feel Matt King's pain at the end of the game, you're not a real sports fan.

Don't know how this will cost the Storm and NRL fans, if anything, it will galvanise the Storm and Victorians to NRL more, an us Vs them thing.

It's still early days for the Storm, give them at least 20 years to have a real good hard core support, things like last nights game will help the Storm, people will see what happened and think to themselves that the Storm is for them, just to stick it up NSW and QLd after they see that they have been ripped off.

if anything it's made me even more determined to help rugby league succeed here. After the game last night my missus turned to me and said "Right, we're getting a family membership next year and we're going to go as many home games as possible."

Good stuff mate. I read in the paper last week that more and more females and signing up to get Storm membership. I don't know why, but it's a positive sign. :thumbsu:

They've lost me that's for sure. What a rubbish refereeing performance which cost the best team all year the premiership. The referee was obviously told to make sure that Webcke goes out a winner. I would love to see someone wipe that arrogant grin off Wayne Bennett's cocky face too. Melbourne were also robbed in having to travel interstate twice in two weeks when they were the minor premiers and won their first final.

Rugby League = joke:thumbsdown:

Yeah, but 4 crucial decisions in a half? Melbourne were on the front foot when they were penalised when the penalty should have gone to Melbourne for a blatant shepherd. The game was lost at that point. If I was Brisbane I would have been ashamed to go up and get their premiership medallions knowing that the referee had gift wrapped it for them.

If you feel that way then good for you. A real fan isn't someone who abandons their team just because they disagree with refereeing decisions. Have you also turned away from Soccer now after the atrocious decision against the Socceroo's in Germany against Italy?

If you've actually lost interest in League because of this one result, then good for you, League is better off without your fairweather support. But I daresay you're feeling like I was after coming home from the match last night, bitter and resentful ...

At the end of the day, we lost and nothing will change that ...

Some of you are a disgrace to yourselves. What a pitiful attitude you have to sport - if you lose, blame the officials and abandon the game.

Don't worry ODN and Warwick, let the dust settle first.

Shouldn't you both be drunk/hungover by now anyway? ;)

Umm no. I actually grew up in Sydney and was a North Sydney supporter all my life and used to sit in the old oak tree at North Sydney Oval every home game and cheer on the Bears. I was devastated and heart-broken when they were kicked out for no reason than that the NRL wanted less teams. This is the first season since the Bears were kicked out(1999) that I have watched a game. I was trying to get back into it but when you see crap like that last night you wonder if it is worth it.

I'm just glad that the Storm are not going public with the poor refereeing. Brian Waldron refused to blame the referee. Bellamy, said while that the refereeing was poor, it was not the reason they lost. Cam Smith said exactly the same thing and I heard a radio interview with Cooper Cronk and he also did not blame the ref.
As much as losing hurts, it's more important to lose with dignity and pay tribute to your opponent and not spoil the party for them than it is to win with arrogance.

Every person who watched the game with one functioning retina could see that the refereeing sucked, but there's nothing anyone can do about it. Brisbane played well. They stuck to the way they wanted to play and were well prepared. Sport is full of ups and downs. As a passionate Richmond supporter, perhaps I take losing a little too easily than most.
I bet West Coast were gutted this time last year as well. Hopefully Storm can use this as the experience they needed to have and will go one better next year.
I am confident about 2007, but in the meantime it's all about respecting your opposition and allowing them the opportunity to enjoy a premiership without spoiling the party. As I said, everyone who watched the game could see there were some bad calls. That's life. Move on.

Not really. Broncos are my second team, but almost on a par with my first, Cronulla. I certainly barrack for them most of the time. Other years I have screamed out and jumped up and down and been on a high.

I just don't value these grand finals played at night anymore. I don't feel the build up, I don't feel the same sense of occasion. Feels like just another home and away game except for the presentations afterwards. Weird feeling.

Don't worry about the dust mate, I understand the sentiment. I had a go over the Goldspink umpiring in the Blues/Pies game in round 21. I understand how seemingly over the top decisions ruin your viewing and ruin your team's momentum. Very frustrating.

The refereeing destroyed the Storm's momentum last night, no doubt about it. They looked to be finishing the stronger at one point and they were stopped in their tracks by some decisions. Just have to stop short of saying it changed the result as there is no way to know that in the end. People can't go back to the first penalty goal and take it away for example because there was so much time left, who knows what happens when you alter the course of the match like that. Like going back in time and stepping on a bug that completely alters the future ecology. It is an unknown.

Good luck for next year philhawk. At least you're not a Cronulla supporter, 40 years without anything to celebrate.

I'm not actually a Broncos supporter but i am sick to death of calls for petitions and physical violence towards the refs. The decisions were wrong but saying Brisbane didn't deserve to win or saying Melbourne were robbed is just stupid. Qld have had to put up with these sorts of decisions for years in SOO (Tallis being sent off, the knock-on at the death of game 1 2000, the entire game 3 of this year etc etc) - it is probably time a "Qld" team got a couple to go the other way.

The NRL do not think of us when scheduling the GF. We don't have the luxury of a public holiday.

I must say the way you (and the Melbourne Storm) have taken the defeat is admirable. :thumbsu: You seem to be one of the most passionate Storm supporters on here as well. Maybe some people should follow your example.
