Best round 1 and start to a NRL season in a long time. Close games, heaps of points scored, players at new clubs, upsets galore, good weather *except Qld. Great crowds. Round 2 has some good match ups and hopefully the crowds build from here.

Have one game left to watch, but there have been some good contests in the first round, and yes, a good weekend for the Kiwis, with RTS, Shaun Johnson, Benji, and Harris all looking good.

I almost saved the best till last, with a terrific contest between the Eels and the Panthers. But if Penrith hope to have the kind of season predicted for them last year (which never happened), they need to play for the full 80, not just the second half. Some great tries and outstanding half-back play from Norman, Moses, and Cleary.
