Amazing story this, I can not beileve this could happen.
Story from Fox Sports
THE NRL premiership trophy went missing today, lost in transit while on the way to Melbourne for a photo shoot.
Just five days out from Sunday's grand final at Telstra Stadium between Melbourne Storm and Brisbane Broncos, the NRL trophy ended up in Perth after a mix up in baggage handling by Qantas.
NRL chief operating office Graham Annesley said nobody knew the exact location of the trophy at one stage, but assured the public it would be on hand at Sunday's Sydney showpiece.
Photographer Col Whelan said the trophy was checked in at Kingsford Smith Airport in Sydney early this morning, but when he arrived in Melbourne the trophy was nowhere to be found.
"I took the trophy with me and checked it into oversized baggage, it was tagged and everything like that, but when I arrived in Melbourne one hour and seven minutes later, I went down and the trophy wasn't there," Whelan told Channel 7.
"I'm not going to cast any aspersions, but somewhere out there is a very lonely trophy looking for a home and if it wants to ring me, I'd love to hear from it."
Seven said the trophy had been located at Perth and would be returned to the NRL later today.
