A bush fire continues to burn near the township of Bell. The fire also continues to burn around the areas of Mt Irvine, McKellars Park, Bilpin, Hartley Vale, Dargan and Clarence.

Current Situation
There is still active fire in the area. Residents in the Lithgow / Mt Victoria / Blue Mountains areas are urged to remain vigilant and be prepared to act. People across these fire affected areas that live in or near bushland should take the forecast conditions seriously, be on alert and complete a Bush Fire Survival Plan or review their current plan.
Areas that may come under threat are Mt Irvine, Mt Wilson, Mt Tomah, Mt Victoria, Berambing, Bilpin, Mountain Lagoon, Hartley Vale, Bell, Dargan and Clarence.
A TOTAL FIRE BAN is in force for the Greater Sydney area until further notice.
Advice

People living in communities along the Great Western Highway can return to their homes. However, people in the area around Springwood and Faulconbridge should be aware there may be local road closures that may prevent you from returning home.

People in communities along the Bells Line of Road should be aware there is fire activity in the area and it is still not safe to return home. Continue to monitor this website for further updates.

If the fire spreads under the predicted weather conditions, your property may come under threat from burning embers, spot fires or the main fire front. Roads will become dangerous.

Consider going to a friend or family member’s home away from areas which may be impacted by fire.

Be aware that if you stay with your property, your life may be at risk. You may be isolated and emergency services may not be able to reach you.

Mt Wilson and Mt Irvine Communities - Residents are advised to remain in place. There is fire burning along access roads and it is not safe to leave. There is a high likelihood you will be isolated for a number of days.

Kurrajong, Bowen Mountain and Yarramundi Communities - Although the fire is not in the immediate area, use today to prepare your home and continue to monitor the situation.

Follow your Bush Fire Survival Plan. If you do not have a Bush Fire Survival Plan, ensure you know what you will do if the fire threatens your property.

Evacuation Centres and Information and Assistance Centres

Seek accommodation with family and friends away from high risk areas as this will be the most comfortable option.

If you have made other arrangements, there is no need to attend or register at an Evacuation Centre or Information and Assistance Centre.

If you cannot make alternative arrangements, the following centres are open:

Fire continues to burn in the Southern Highlands near the villages of Yerrinbool, Balmoral, Yanderra, Pheasants Nest, Wilton, Bargo, Buxton, Hill Top, Alpine / Aylmerton and Couridjah in the Southern Highlands.

Current Situation
Crews are continuing to monitor conditions as winds have the potential to blow embers past containment lines.
More than 120 firefighters with aerial support are in the area, working on the fire and patrolling the fireground.
A TOTAL FIRE BAN is in force for the Illawarra / Shoalhaven area until further notice.
Advice
Residents should remain vigilant, take conditions seriously and be ready to act.

The fire in the Blackheath area flared up this afternoon but is within containment lines.


Current Situation
Firefighters are continuing work to contain the fire that has burnt out more than 2,600 hectares.

Areas that may come under threat are Mt Victoria, Blackheath, Shipley, Hartley Vale, Little Hartley, Megalong Valley and the Kanimbla Valley.

A TOTAL FIRE BAN is in place for the Greater Sydney Region until further notice.

Advice

Emergency Warning - State Mine Fire (Lithgow, Hawkesbury and Blue Mountains) 24/10/13 18:15

A large bush fire is burning in the area around the Bells Line of Road. An emergency warning is in place for areas around Mount Irvine, Mount Wilson, Mount Tomah and Berambing.

Current Situation
Fire activity has intensified this afternoon under strong and gusty south westerly winds.

The fire has now crossed the Bells Line of Road into unburnt bushland west of Bilpin, close to Range Hill and the Explorers Range walking trail. The Air Cranes are working in the area in an effort to slow the fire's progress.

As advised for the last few days, people in the Mount Irvine and Mount Wilson areas should not attempt to leave as the fire is burning around access roads and it is not safe to leave. Seek shelter if the fire impacts on your property.

People in the area around Mount Tomah and Berambing should relocate towards Bilpin.

There is still active fire in area to the south of Hartley Vale (near Mt York) to the west of Lawsons Long Alley. There is also the potential for spot fires into the Grose Valley.

Residents in the Lithgow / Mt Victoria / Blue Mountains areas should monitor conditions and be prepared to take action.

A TOTAL FIRE BAN is in force for the Greater Sydney, Greater Hunter, Illawarra / Shoalhaven and Central Ranges areas until further notice.

Emergency Warning - Mount York Road, Mount Victoria Fire (Blue Mountains) 24/10/13 17:33

An emergency warning is in place for the northern part of the Mount York fire, in the area around the Bells Line of Road. This fire is joined with the State Mine Fire, which is burning in the area of the Bells Line of Road.

Current Situation
The northern side of the fire has now crossed the Bells Line of Road into unburnt bushland west of Bilpin, close to Range Hill and the Explorers Range walking trail. The Aircranes are working in the area in an effort to slow the fire's progress.

As advised for the last few days, people in the Mount Irvine and Mount Wilson areas should not attempt to leave as the fire is burning around access roads and it is not safe to leave. Seek shelter if the fire impacts on your property.

People in the area around Mount Tomah and Berambing should relocate towards Bilpin.

There is still active fire in area to the south of Hartley Vale (near Mt York) to the west of Lawsons Long Alley. There is also the potential for spot fires into the Grose Valley.

Blackheath and Mount Victoria may come under threat if fire advances beyond current control strategies with predicted weather conditions.

Areas that may come under threat are Mt Victoria, Blackheath, Shipley, Hartley Vale, Little Hartley, Megalong Valley and the Kanimbla Valley.

Watch and Act - Gateshead fire (Lake Macquarie) 24/10/13 17:09

The fire burning in the area of Dudley and Redhead, south-west of Newcastle, is now at Watch and Act due to current weather conditions.

Current Situation
There has been an increase in fire activity due to winds. People in the area need to remain vigiliant and monitor the current situation.
Firefighters are conducting backburning operations between Dudley and Redhead. Operations will be taking place between the Fernleigh Track and Redhead Road. Smoke from these backburning operations will be visible in the area and will be moving east towards the coast.
More than 100 firefighters, including a strike team from Victoria, are on the scene.
Advice
Monitor conditions in your area. Dudley and Redhead residents are asked to remain vigilant as conditions may change.
Check and follow your Bush Fire Survival Plan. If you do not have a plan, decide what you will do if the situation changes. Leaving early is your safest option.

The bush fire in the Springwood and Faulconbridge area has burnt more than 3,000 hectares.

Current Situation
There has been an increase in fire activity in the vicinity of Chapman Parade, Faulconbridge. The fire still remains within containment lines.
Today’s weather may result in the fire and smoke being pushed towards the township of Yarramundi, Grose Wold, Grose Vale and Bowen Mountain. These communities should monitor conditions.
Other areas under threat are Mt Riverview, Emu Heights, Warrimoo, Sun Valley and Valley Heights.

A fire burning in the area of Stockrington Road at Minmi.

Current Situation
The outbreak of fire on the Eastern side of the M1 Motorway is now contained. The M1 Motorway is reopened in both directions however people should drive to the conditions as smoke may reduce visibility.
The fire is burning in the area between Stockrington Road at Minmi and West of the M1 Motorway. The fire is currently contained and crews are working at strengthening containment lines and will be patrolling within the area.

There is still active fire within the area of South of Hartley Vale (near Mt York) to the west of Lawsons Long Alley. There is also potential for spot fires today within the Grose Valley area.

Impact Assessment Teams have been undertaking assessments of fire damaged property in the Blue Mountains, checking for hazards such as asbestos and other contaminants, the structural integrity of buildings and trees, and other safety issues.

As a result of these assessments there will be a community meeting tonight at 7pm. Residents will be able to register for information on their property at the meeting or they can call Blue Mountains City Council on 4723 5000.

The Mount York fire at Mount Victoria is now at Watch and Act due to easing weather conditions.

Current Situation
Firefighters have contained spot fires and there is no longer any immediate threat to property.

Fire continues to burn in the vicinity of Blackheath and could threaten Mt Victoria, Shipley, Hartley Vale, Little Hartley, the Megalong Valley and the Kanimbla Valley.

Crews are working at strengthening containment lines and continuing to patrol the fireground. This will produce and increase in smoke.

A TOTAL FIRE BAN is in force for the Greater Sydney, Greater Hunter, Illawarra / Shoalhaven and Central Ranges areas until midnight tonight.

Advice

People who relocated from Mount Tomah and Berambing can now return to their homes.

Mount Irvine and Mount Wilson residents should remain vigiliant, closely monitor the fire situation and take advice from firefighters in the area.

Residents of Springwood and Faulconbridge should be aware that local road closures may occur at short notice.

Community Meeting

Impact Assessment Teams have been undertaking assessments of fire damaged property in the Blue Mountains, checking for hazards such as asbestos and other contaminants, the structural integrity of buildings and trees, and other safety issues.

As a result of these assessments there will be a community meeting tonight at 7pm. Residents will be able to register for information on their property at the meeting or they can call Blue Mountains City Council on 4723 5000.

The fire at Dudley and Redhead, south-west of Newcastle is currently contained and remains at Advice Level.

Current Situation
Firefighters are currently patrolling and mopping up the area. There is currently no threat to properties.
Smoke will be visible within the area, however it is moving east towards the coast.
The fire has burnt more than 240 hectares.

The bush fire in the Springwood and Faulconbridge area has burnt more than 3,300 hectares.

Current Situation
Fire is burning within containment lines in the vicinity of Grose Road and Chapman Parade at Faulconbridge.
Crews continued backburning operations in the area throughout the night and priority for today is to ensure property protection whilst fire activity is present. Crews will be working on patrolling and mopping up along edges of the fire to minimise potential threats and minimise the possibility of fire breaching containment lines.
There are no properties under immediate threat. However locals should still remain vigiliant and monitor the situation.
Residents in Faulconbridge, Springwood, Mt Riverview, Emu Heights, Warrimoo, Sun Valley Valley Heights, Blaxland, Woodford will likely see smoke in the area.

A fire is contained in the area of Stockrington Road at Minmi and is currently being patrolled.

The fire area is between Stockrington Road at Minmi and West of the M1 Motorway. The fire is currently contained and crews will continue to patrol the area.

This fire remains at Advice level due to easing weather conditions.

Current Situation
Firefighters have established containment lines and continue to patrol the fireground.
Under current weather conditions there is still a potential threat to the villages of Yerrinbool, Bargo, Wilton, Buxton, Yanderra, Alpine / Aylmerton, Pheasants Nest and Hill Top in the Southern Highlands.
The fire has burnt out more than 15,650 hectares.
A TOTAL FIRE BAN is in force for the Illawarra / Shoalhaven area until midnight tonight.
