It probably does belong in SRP because it's a political decision and not a punting topic per se, but it's here for now. However, the following, if it comes to pass, will be the end of punting.

"Mr Tuckey said the “injustice” of the greyhound racing ban – which has sparked calls by the Greens for a nationwide ban on the sport and emboldened animal rights activists who want to shut down all animal use industries like beef-cattle or sheep production - further emphasised his call for a federal regulatory body to supervise gambling on racing and sports betting."

This is one of the three 'expert' vets that gave evidence to the McHugh Inquiry, Karen Dawson. It's been alleged that she (and the other two) was actually not qualified to present evidence at the Inquiry but I believe that scenario is currently the subject of legal action. You can see why her nickname became Dr Death and why she's now opposed to greyhound racing, considering her short and disastrous tenure.

Look at the figure for 2010-2011 when this person was at the helm. ""Charged with overseeing the already dysfunctional greyhound adoption program, I started receiving hundreds of dogs from the greyhound community in Queensland; dogs that would otherwise have been euthanased,” she said."
http://www.ava.com.au/13191

Already dysfunctional? Hundreds of dogs? Really? The above graph doesn't show that, it shows that the Adoption Program took a giant leap backwards under her leadership and that in the 2010-2011 period they took in just 89 dogs (with a >50% euthanasia rate) and are slowly recovering. If it was dysfunctional before her tenure, what do we call it during? Did she lie to the AVA? Also, just because the dogs are placed into the adoption program doesn't mean they'd have been otherwise euthanised.

So in short Sprockets can't provide any source evidence for his 6.9% claim or a list of other countries that have established greyhound racing. Nothing to see here move along.
LOL, I like the way sprockets weasels out of answering the question because he didn't know anyone had asked it, yet when it's brought to his attention he still doesn't answer it.

Best conspiracy that is being posted by industry supporters is that it is an Islamic plot - I s**t YOU NOT.

Better yet I'm actually an alt account. Apparently anyone who disagrees and actually asks for evidence (which still hasn't been provided) must be an alt account.

"Barnaby Joyce blames Mike Baird's greyhound ban for local election results"

"Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce has blamed NSW Premier Mike Baird's decision to ban greyhound racing from July 1 next year for swings against the Coalition in the state's local council elections.

...

"I just think that the greyhound decision has not been accepted in many areas, and it's probably good that the local government election is out of the way. It's a cathartic mechanism to deal with it in some form." ..."

Barnaby Joyce blames the one thing Baird has done that he has overwhelming community support for :drunk:

This idiot and his government never stop with the BS. So his rushed legislation and propaganda campaign is to educate people involved in greyhound racing about not putting down or dumping their dogs after hearing of the ban... Of course, it's not to try to convince the gullible public that greyhound racing is bad, bad, bad.

"The briefing – titled "urgent greyhound safety campaign" – says some greyhound owners told a government help line and the RSPCA they would "surrender, kill or dump greyhounds".

This allowed the ads to be run before a peer review was carried out as is required for campaigns worth more than $50,000 under the Government Advertising Act."

As if those participants that 'allegedly' threatened to put down or dump their dogs didn't already know everything they needed to know beforehand. If I believed that up to 68,000 greyhounds were put down over the past 12 years I'd also think that putting down a few more wouldn't matter. But it's not true.

Then there's this, "... In other documents, an email by Mayanne LaFontaine, manager of government communications at the Department of Premier and Cabinet, laments that the ads do not elicit an emotional response.

"If feels more like government is sending a message that we don't particularly want you to understand (cause it is said very quickly) or that we are trying to convince you in a propaganda style way," she wrote."

You don't say...

And where is the money coming from to pay for those ads? I'm told it's coming from the transition money that's meant to help participants and their dogs transition to new lives after racing ends.

Even though I know the anti-racing/anti-gambling (punting) crowd are having their say in here, twisting everything to suit their agenda, when the (Lib) Prime Minister and his (Nat) Deputy say their own NSW State Parties got it wrong (and paid for it at the local council elections), as well as the "manager of government communications at the Department of Premier and Cabinet saying their campaign looks like propaganda, as well as three NSW State Nationals crossing the floor, as well as the myriad of others pointing out the many defects in The Report that Baird totally relied upon (because he has no other knowledge outside of it), you know something's not right.

Have a listen to Alan Jones and Luke Foley. I'm not a fan of Alan Jones but he's well known as a Liberal supporter (and former candidate) so for him to be so strongly against the ban says a fair bit. This will play automatically so if you don't want to hear it don't click on the link.
