Any clubs with big recruits?
Best juniors coming through?
Tip for leading goal kicker?
BnF tip?
Riser and slider?
Premiers?

Only a week to go until Round 1 - kicking off with Thursday night footy between Nightcliff and Tiwi.

Some of the big recruits announced thus far are Baxter Mensch back to Palmerston, Dane Swan apparently playing a game or two for Waratah, Quinton Narkle to play a full season for strugglers Southern Districts, Willie Rioli Jnr and Nigel Lockyer set to play for Tiwi, and Nightcliff bringing in Byron Pickett Jnr and welcoming back Jack Peris. Sure there'll be a flurry of other big names over the next week or so leading into Round 1

Wanderers FC have just welcomed back Cody Leggett (WAFL) & a few quality small/medium type players from country SA.

Looks like it might be another long miserable season for wanderers. Have only managed a single behind in the first half against a club who also struggled a lot last season in the Buffs.

Yeah the comp is cooked. Wanderers, Palmy and Buffs left to rot whilst clubs like St Mary’s, Nightcliff, PINT and Districts are just full of fly ins or ex AFL players. And just to even it up, Dusty and Taryn Thomas will go to Saints & Districts.

I used to follow it quite intently after leaving NT, but it’s just too predictable these days and there’s no real enjoyment unless you go for Saints/Districts/Nightcliff. Wouldn’t be surprised if the NTFL folds Darwin + Palmerston + Wanderers and replaces them with Banks one day

I can't see Darwin, Palmerston or Wanderers folding, at least in the near future. I think Banks will join next season to create a ten-team competition. There is definitely a gulf between the top teams and the bottom, but it should be an exciting finals series.

Not so long ago I remember palmy being up there and they even were able to attract gaz jr to come and play for them.

And Wanderers only a decade ago were always challenging for flags for what seemed like 4-5 years in a row.

What's happened that they've dived so dramatically so quickly?...I always thought palmy had a good income from the cazaly club?

Also I'm guessing there is no form of salary cap in the comp?

Ive been to a few games sporadically over the years on my trips to Darwin, but obvs find it tricky to keep track of everything that's happening except the scores which are easy to follow on the AFLplay app.

Really wish it was broadcast outside the bloody NT news subscription service, I feel the league is really missing a trick by not at least having one live game on TV or YouTube, there's a lot of footy starved fans in the off season elsewhere whom would be keen to watch a live game in the summer months.

Palmy were in form until the Gaz game and then they got done for having too many fly ins and the season fell apart. Has always been a funds thing - the rent on the oval was huge and not something the club could ever really afford. Cazalys don’t give anything extra compared to other clubs. Not sure if bringing Buffs in has helped with that - but either way has been a verrrry long time since Palmy made finals. I think it’s just the gulf between the big clubs and the palmo/buffs/wanderers in terms of recruits and money has grown too much and they’ll never claw it back.

Anyone know if Tarryn Thomas is actually training with Southern Districts?

Think from what I read a while back he was actively training with them in preparation of his debut and doing stuff around the club. Might be wrong though
