Re the #38, I think you're all getting worked up over nothing. Jacob Schuback currently owns this number so its unlikely to fall to Carey.

The available number for Carey after the delisting process are:

No. 2
No. 5
No. 12
No. 14
No. 15
No. 25
No. 28
No. 29

And of course the no. 18 is the questionable one.

Any of these would be OK, #28 would be appropriate considering it was Johnson who was a part of the deal which brought him here. I think #29 would be given to Torney, I wouldn't personally give him No. 15 because it might bring him some injury bad luck (just erring on the side of caution) and I'm not sure about the others. It will be interesting to see what number he ends up with.

In the end it doesn't matter if he dominates with #18, #28, or #999.
I'll be happy with whatever one he gets, just so long as he wears it.

Carey would be good in number 81, the reverse of 18.

There's no rule that the number has to be low. Look what Shaun Rehn did for number 52.

81 would be a good change from the usual numbers we see all the time.

#18 should go to Carey then Stiffy gets 1st pick at the rest. Byron used to wear #28 for the Roos, so I wouldn't mind seeing Stiffy with that number. Torney as mentioned will likely take #29 like with the Tigers. Burns used to wear #8, but can't see Bassett giving that up (nor should he), so I gather he may take one of the top-20 numbers he likes. Then we have a few other players who stepped up this year (eg. Ladhams) who may wish to have a lower number.

Hopefully this doesn't turn into a mud-slinging match which happened in Sydney last year with Plugger.

This garbage doesn't really deserve a response, but here goes anyway. First of all, Carey was a player opposition supporters loved to hate. Not soley for his ability, but moreso his arrogance. But he's a great player and we're rapt to have him on our side. Some of us would've bagged him (I know I did) and of some wouldn't. So what? We don't support North Melbourne. Second of all, the Carey deal was going to get done whether Johnson left or not. Carey had opted for Adelaide weeks before Johnson confirmed his desire to depart. As for the rest of your drivell, well I'm not going to bother.
