Andrew Gaff

Yes it's still early days and Gaff has a long way to go before he gets near the heights of his predecessors, but the number three jumper looks to be in pretty capable hands.

Lets hope he can join those two as a West Coast premiership player

Have to give the coaches credit for his early season impact.

Gaff's skinny frame may be exposed when everyone is pumped at the start of the game. Bringing on an elite runner when everyone else is starting to run out of gas and a fatigue starts to take effect, is good player management and smart gametime tactics.

Smiles all round for the new guy.

Shuey's still eligible IIRC...27 Disposals 3 goals will be hard to beat this week!

Gaff could easily win the rising star nod for this week after his sensational 1 and bit quarters :thumbsu:
That was a very good change by Worsfold imo. We've struggled to run out games in the past but taking off a tall for another runner was the right move imo.

Lynchy looked frucking pissed to be taken off though :D

Once Gaff put some more muscle on he'll be terrific. He's got great endurance and ball skills.

Hope he builds his legs and core to Shuey's size. Then he'll have the power to break tackles and will develop a seriously penetrating and powerful kick.

I was actually thinking to myself halfway through the 3rd that Lynch should be subbed off for Gaff, and then it happened. I would like to see what he could do in a whole game but for the time being he is the perfect sub.

Who the **** is that 2nd name you said?!

never heard of him but he sounds like a ****

Nice game speed and endurance. Seems to be mindful of the physical contest and excuses himself from it. Wish he had a bit of burst, and very much needs to work on the defensive side of his game (very weak to non-existent). Kicking was ok. He still reminds me a lot of Chad Fletcher.

yeah gaff looks good...

i was bored a couple of nights before the season starts and was youtubing some highlights from draftees last years... gotta admit when i was watching polec i was thinking "shit if this guy takes these skills onto the big stage then gaff is going to have to be a mighty fine player to satisfy us eagles fans"

and then i saw conca, as a home grown boy, and pretty much thought the same thing....

but having seen gaff on the big stage and it's given me only smiles. he's done well and he seems perfectly suited to the sub role at the moment and as he develops and gets a bit stronger he'll get full games....

incidentally conca hasn't done much in his two games for richmond (obviously early days)....

i only got to see the lats quarter today at work - and even then didn't get to see all that much - but it seemed every second time i looked the screen gaff or shuey had the ball and each time did the job. except gaff's missed shot at goal... which he then fixed it up and kicked a goal about a minute later...

I really like the idea of having Gaff as the sub. I can't wait to see him play a full game but as someone pointed out he is coming on when people are getting tired and it free to use pace and skill. Not a bad way to build up a player's skills and confidence on the big stage.
Hopefully another 10 odd games as a sub picking up 15+ possies before a full game debut.

For the game this week against the Swans what time does it start (perth time)?
