Cats (07-11): 106 wins, 19 losses, 84.8%
Bombers (99-01): 62 wins, 12 losses, 83.8%
Hawks (11-15): 99 wins, 27 losses, 78.6%
Richmond (17-19): 56 wins, 18 losses, 75.7%
Power (01-04): 74 wins, 25 losses, 74.7%
Lions (01-04): 75 wins, 25 losses, 1 draw, 74.3%
Blues (93-95): 52 wins, 18 losses, 1 draw, 73.6%
Pies: (09-12): 74 wins, 25 losses, 2 draws, 73.3%
Eagles (91-94): 71 wins, 26 losses, 1 draw, 72.4%
Eagles (05-07): 54 wins, 21 losses, 72.0%
Roos (96-99): 71 wins, 29 losses, 71.0%

So a similar or better W/L ratio to most other premiership sides of the last 30 odd years over their peak years.
Jesus that Geelong record
The percentage says under 10% above us but the W-L says 50 extra wins, for just 1 extra loss.

Its not social media that's the root of the problem. Giving air to woes about the state of the game & giving oxygen to the Geelong coach are the root cause. I can't believe an organisation rushes through the rule changes it did. In the wash up we get record low scoring and RFC another flag.
What will the rule change be this year? Not allowed to handball the ball forward. Whately thinks :Hmmm that rugby game is good they don't pass the ball fwd.

The constant rule changes are definitely my biggest issue with the AFL ATM. Head Office just don't understand integrity. It's not the same game in '19 as it was in '18, which was a different game to '17, which was different again in '16. How is any club supposed to build a long term strategy?

I reckon the change to the 3rd man up rule contributed to the Dogs drop-off. They built a game around that rule and the AFL took it away, with no good reason. It did not fix the whinging about congestion.

Getting lucky with random rule changes falling your way plays a bigger part in AFL than it does with the local footy. Embarrassing when the top level has the least integrity. At this point, I think we have to acknowledge that AFL is as much about entertainment content as it is about a fair contest.

Heard a lot of nuffies on social media claiming our flags in '17 & '19 were gifted to us etc so i did some digging to see how we have compared to our opposition in the last 3 seasons in terms of total wins & the findings are as follows -

H&A (Finals) wins 2017-2019

Richmond 49 (7)
Geelong 44 (2)
West Coast 43 (5)
GWS 40 (5)
Collingwood 39 (3)
Adelaide 37 (2)
Port Adelaide 37
Sydney 36 (1)
Essendon 36
Hawthorn 36
Melbourne 31 (2)
Western Bulldogs 31
North Melbourne 28
Brisbane 26
Fremantle 25
St Kilda 24
Carlton 15
Gold Coast 13

Total

Richmond 56
Geelong 46
West Coast 48
GWS 45
Collingwood 42
Adelaide 39
Port Adelaide 37
Sydney 37
Essendon 36
Hawthorn 36
Melbourne 33
Western Bulldogs 31
North Melbourne 28
Brisbane 26
Fremantle 25
St Kilda 24
Carlton 15
Gold Coast 13

So for the Nuffies who say we were lucky to win 2 Flags, we really should have won all 3!

'tis a good stat

I went back even further to 2013 - (for all the naysayers who say we have had an easy ride)

View attachment 768846

Our winning % is better than Sydney but they have won more games.

Also I worked out most wins for the year.

View attachment 768849

Gold - Best winning record for the year
Silver - 2nd best winning record for the year

Clear as day we screwed the pooch last year and in fact should currently be 3x premiers. In fact 2018 is the only year in the past 7 years where the best winning % for the year didn't win the flag.

IMO a Flag next yr would have us trump thier era, 3 flags in 1 less yr, can just imagine the saltiness now as they claim to have the better era tho.

I don't give a toss about any other team, I've heard their bleating, I've even given some a belting over how their clubs are managed. But what I see is a club forging its own path and future, something I thought was going on in the 60's. Now, we are leading the comp. both with ideas, management and competitiveness.........cool, hey?

Bingo! the best thing for us is that our system cannot be copied etc & especially not without out cattle etc.

Richmond's win/loss ratio (home and away plus finals) was the best in
2017 (Adelaide lost the same number from the same number of games, but drew a game and thus won one fewer),
2018 (WC won the same number, but played one more game thus losing one more)
& 2019 (no contest there).

The seasons went 19/6, 19/5 & 19/6.

The last side that had the best win/loss ratio in three full consecutive seasons was.....

Hawthorn?
No.
Geelong?
No.
Brisbane?
No.

Try Melbourne. When they were last dominant.

I'm no spring chicken, but even that was before my time.

One of the most amazing stats I saw in terms of players was Martin in the QF.
14 disposals, 13 contested, six goals.
In other words six contested ball goals, not lead up marks and set shots.
They talk of disposal efficiency but Martin creates a new tier of elite disposal efficiency.
Game changer.

The benchmark successful teams in recent history have been Brisbane (3), Geelong (3) and Hawthorn (4).
Dustin should play for another seven years in total, until age 35.
In that time, we could well win another 2 or 3 premierships.
Five premierships would equal the golden era champions Bartlett and Bourke.
